I don't know if she performed that song during her Asian tour, but she performed it for the first time in Europe, in Manchester, in May 1999. I was at that show and I really like that song when I first heard it. The afternoon of the show, I heard the rehearsal, and Jewel and the band played that song quite a few times :-) I don't really remember the early version now, because I'm so used to the album version, but it was quite different. I even had a real audio file of the Manchester version but I don't know where I put it.... I think it is great that she is selling Angelfood after her shows. She called it bootlegging herself. There is obviously a demand for the music, so Instant Live to me is a great way to give the fans what they want and get something in return. The more widely they sell the Instant Lives, the less it will be worth it for bootleggers, who depend on high demand and short supply to make their money. I would buy other Instant Lives if they were available, but since they are not, I am game for trading my Instant Live for any other Instant Live. I will also trade it for any other Angelfood that is not available for purchase. Email me if you would like to trade. I did not see any Cain Park posts yet. Were there any EDA's there? When Jewel asked, it sounded like mostly first-timers at the concert. It was a good crowd. It seemed like everyone was into the show. We were at least as loud as the much larger Meadows Music Theatre crowd on the Spirit tour. Cleveland rocks! I'm in Pennsylvania, far away from Jewelville, but that's where road trips come in. It was a 6 hour drive (well worth it!), the same drive time as when we saw her on the Spirit tour in Connecticut. Both times we found a great camping site in the area and roughed it for a few days while we were there. Cain Park is an outdoor, intimate setting. All the pavilion seats are pretty close. We were in the 5th row (much closer than we were in Connecticut), which makes the experience even better! Jewel said that it was great to be back, and she thinks it is pretty there. I agree! When Jewel came out, the first thing I noticed was her bangs. Loved the new do! She opened with Near You Always. This has always been a favorite of mine, and I loved the acapella start. Best take I ever heard. We requested Carnivore, Satellite, and 1000 Miles Away, but she said "This is a song none of you requested" and went with Everything Breaks. Absolutely amazing live performance! My favorite of the night. She also did You're in Cleveland Today. This was very popular for some reason. :) She said she doesn't do that one much, and pulled out her lyric book. She did great...didn't miss a beat. This was the first time I heard Passing Time. She called it a pathetic song. :) It was poetic for me. The bugs were really liking the stage, and Jewel asked the lighting guy to turn off the overhead lights and go with just the lower intensity tinted ones. The bugs left, and the setting was right for a love song. She called it "A Frisky New Romantic Love Song". The title is Lemon Drops and Clover. I am looking forward to the new album! Other songs included Morning Song (excellent rendition), Little Sister, Sometimes It Be That Way, Race Car Driver, Cold Song, Hands, and Down So Long. She did an encore with Per La Gloria A'Doram and Chime Bells. I absolutely loved it! All solo acoustic, except for Per La Gloria A'Doram, which was acapella....a very pretty song. Nothing beats a live show of such an amazing vocalist. I would go to more shows if only she passed through the Northeast more often. We even have a fancy new amphitheater now, the Sovereign Center. ; ) Robin Stone opened for Jewel. She is a local favorite with her own label. I enjoyed her folk style. There was no pre-concert music, but they played MC Hammer's You Can't Touch This after the show. I thought it was a pretty neat c ontrast to Jewel's music. I think they also played MC Hammer after her Meadows Connecticut show on the Spirit tour. Break it Down! I hope to see more posts from some of her recent shows. Since Jewel does such varied shows, it's fun to hear what it was like at other venues. Come on guys, I'd love to hear from you! Oops, my post is in danger of reaching epic proportions. I wonder if anyone will make it this far. I'm curious as to if it can be done. They don't seem to want to make these available to the general public. I would really like to hear the latest version of Nicotine Love since the one I have is from at least 5 years ago. - -Mi Rinda ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jul 2004 17:30:22 -0400 (EDT) From: "" Subject: [EDA] Any EDAs in Georgia near Atlanta? I might be among the older ones on the list at 38 but I was wondering if anyone out there is from the Atlanta area. My family and I are relocating with our three children from Long Island, NY. We've bought a home in Suwanee and I'll be working in Alpharetta. If you're from the area, drop me an e-mail. I have some general questions.
