"Place in the Sun" In my younger years I cried all my tears In the darkness all alone Uncertainty in the air Electricity everywhere Tempers waiting to flare Waiting to explode It was like a dream That I could not wake Was drowning beneath the weight Of the hope I would find my place in the sun My place in the sun My place in the sun Just for me Moved into my car Didn't think I'd go very far But I found the spotlight But it did not warm my soul People let me in your living rooms And you listen to my simple tunes Just like me People needed words for company But I thought I'd find A kinder world Beyond my own But people were alone and waiting to find their place in the sun Their place in the sun Their place in the sun Just for beauty Now I'm on the other side Of my crazy kinda life I've seen fame and fortune, heartache, poverty And I can see That everything really feels the same And are you happy with your name? And I don't gotta fight Gonna be alright I found my place in the sun My place in the sun My place in the sun My place in the sun My place in the sun ohhh.... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jun 2004 11:42:12 EDT From: Harrisbros@aol.com Subject: [EDA] NJC: Adrian, Jewel's "back door man"... ***Adrian wrote: >Speaking of the two-word Inner Change - did anyone happen to grab the >door to that venerable San Diego coffee-house?! Hey, if Tegan could get the strip club sign on the plane, a door is not totally out of the question! (I still shake my head over the Hot Dog Fest week trio of Tegan, Igor and Jarred trekking to the strip club -- angels with tilted halos, so to speak. It wasn't that the strip club visit was so weird, it was the trio itself!). I know we took the "fondue fork of fabulous folk songs" from the rubble of Jewel's early beginnings, and now it really bothers me that we didn't cork the prongs on the damn thing. Someone's liable to put an eye out with it, and well, the image of an everyday angel with an eyepatch is kind of unsettling. The Pajama Jam seems so long ago. Waking up under the coffee bar next to Igor, deadpanning "its there any decent coffee in this town?"... Java Joes was at the old location, people did what it took to get there, and, well, everyone (including Jewel) seemed so damn happy to be there. Good to hear from you, Adrian. You were always one of the more "sane obsessives"....
