I have to say this show was just okay. Of course it was good because it was Jewel, but I've been to better Jewel shows. It seemed like she didn't sing that many songs compared to the last concert I went to. Oh well. Anyway, here's the setlist: 01 Passing Time 02 Carnivore - she started to play Here When Gone, but said she couldn't remember the lyrics 03 Down So Long 04 Life Uncommon 05 Hands 06 Standing Still 07 Jewel asks what we want to hear 08 Goodbye Alice in Wonderland (??? I'm calling it that, but it's a new song) Chorus: Goodbye Alice in Wonderland Goodbye yellow brick road There is a difference Between dreaming and pretending That was not love in your eyes It was only a reflection of my longing And I'm wanting what was missing in my life 09 I Belong With You (??? Again, a new song and I'm just taking the chorus) When she started, the strumming sounded like 2 Become 1 .. heh Chorus: So I drive to you tonight I was blind, now I have sight I could not leave you even if I tried Your heart beats inside of me Like a star in the dark of night Like birds lost in flight Like clouds in the sky blue I belong with you 10 Race Car Driver - standard story with the racer picking her up and asking to see her breasts 11 Morning Song 12 Zoloft Story 13 Intuition 14 Foolish Games 15 YWMFM 16 WWSYS with story about the longest song Encore: 17 Where You Are (dulcimer song) 18 Chime Bells (acapella, a little jazzy . I like it) I bought the InstantLive thing. Okay, you CANT buy them online. It's a one-shot deal. They are $25 a pop . ugh. But it's the whole show, talking and all. Overall . yeah, the show wasn't a "wow" show. ::shrug:: you can't have it all =) Elizabeth ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 09:58:30 -0400 From: "Pupecki, Stacy" Subject: [EDA] Instalive CDs what is the website for those live cds? i emailed them last week about buying them on line but i have not received a response. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 11:18:55 EDT From: Makyle@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Remainder of Jewel tour.... Does anyone know if Jewel will be coming anywhere near Dallas on this tour??? She normally does, but since I have heard nothing of it I am starting to wonder if I should have bought tickets for out of state...Also is the velvet rope thing still going on the remainder of the tour....Sorry if I am asking dumb questions but I haven't had a lot of time to read all my jewelmail...... Thanks All Maria ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 12:30:59 -0400 From: "Pupecki, Stacy" Subject: [EDA] obscure jewel lyrics Does anyone have the lyrics to any of these very obscure jewel songs? Or can you let me know if they are cover songs or just an alternate name for a more familiar song? Thanks. Another round of you, Crazy, Electric Quaalude, Everything is cardboard, How long will this go on?, I don't want to be loved by anyone but you, I hate birthdays, Je t'aime, Last standing vagabond, Long gone daddy, Now that you have me, Open your eyes, Partial to mary, Pretty cash, Puzzle of stars, Shadows play, Stay, The next rodeo (aka adios amigo), Things you don't say, Tough girl, Until the fall. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 10:50:54 -0700 From: Steven Perkins Subject: [EDA] Review: San Diego 06/14/04 Jewel played at Humphrey's By The Bay in sweet-home San Diego last night. Humphrey's is a beautiful outdoor venue right alongside sailboat docks in the harbor and the theater is surrounded by palm trees and tiki-style hotel rooms. It was just Jewel, two guitars, and a basket of flowers on stage. Anyway, here's the set-list: Passing Time Carnivore Down So Long Life Uncommon Hands Standing Still Goodbye(?) (new song...only a couple of days old, not sure of title) Drive To You(?) (an untitled new song only sang a couple times before) Race Car Driver Morning Song Intuition Foolish Games You Were Meant For Me Who Will Save Your Soul Please (?) (another new song, first time she did live) Chime Bells "Goodbye" is about ending a relationship with someone you're not in love with) "Drive To You" is about missing the one you love "Please" was the first encore song, this was the first time I've seen Jewel play a sit-ar! Jewel mentioned that they're recording her shows for possible use on her next album (possibly her final album with Atlantic Records). They're trying to take half of the next album from live performances. Jewel told a story about a weird fan who sent her a tape of him singing "Pieces of You" half speed. (freaky) She joked he was naked, covered in cooking oil (sounds like someone I know) She said he looked like Meatloaf's brother (his initials are DH) ...and that he had a Steven Segal ponytail (Yep! It has to be...DENNIS HARRIS!) Instantlive was also recording the show and selling it immediately afterwards for $25. I spoke with a representative about the company, mentioning it was a good idea whose time is way overdue. I asked if Instantlive was a private company and if there were investment opportunities, he told me that it's owned by Clearchannel. Bummer, that makes sense though...they own just about everything else in the music industry. Anyway, you can buy the CD online at their website if you want it. While we're on the subject of Instantlive, it might not be a bad idea to adopt a list-policy on burning these CD's. I'd hate for the list to get into trouble again, especially when the shows are available for purchase online to anyone who really wants them. Plus, I'd hate to see Instantlive stop doing business. Although $25 is a lot of money, I like being able to purchase a copy of the concert. One final thought: I sure do miss hanging out with fellow Jewel fans (especially in San Diego). I haven't seen our Hot-Dog Fest hosts Tom & Nancy (and Kailie & Chelsea) in years, even longer since I've seen Igor, and although Gerrit isn't from up north he's an adopted Southlander. Plus it's kind of weird not seeing Larry Greenfield in the front row. San Diego is Jewel's home-town, there's so many long-time Jewel fans there we should at least set up a meet over coffee before the show! See you in San Diego again this evening and LA next month, Sinjin ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 17:23:05 EDT From: Mbinda03@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Re: instant live cds anyone going to any of the upcoming shows, if ud be kind enough to buy me a copy of the instantlive cd, i would be more than willing to sent payment before the show. please email me privately, thanks! - -Matt ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 16:01:09 -0700 From: "Larry Greenfield" Subject: RE: [EDA] Review: San Diego 06/14/04 What a great treat to hear from Sinjin, the original Jewel fireman fire putter outer! See you in L.A. in July; midweek in SD was just too hard to swing. Anyone up for an EDA thingy in L.A. on July 23, let me know. - -=-Larry-=- > [Original Message] > From: Steven Perkins > > One final thought: I sure do miss hanging out with fellow Jewel fans > (especially in San Diego).
