They are playing it on the radio around here, and if some people are thinking ohh i'm sure it's just like her sister jessica's music, it's totally not. It's kinda rockish popish punkish all rolled into one check her out! - ----- Original Message ----- From: cristian louvier Sent: Monday, May 17, 2004 4:49 PM To: jewel@smoe.org Subject: [EDA] Ashley Simpson's "Pieces of Me" Hey all, I was just flipping through the channels and on MTV I saw Ashley's Simpsons video, there was a shot where she was posing for pictures and she looked just like Jewel, I guess they have the same sorta nose or something. I wasn't really listening to it, she just reminded me of a young Jewel a little bit if Jewel woulda been punk-rockish looking (and dyed her hair dark!) Anyways when the song was over I saw it was called "Pieces of me"- coincendence? Maybe both sisters are Jewel fans. cristian SBC Yahoo! - Internet access at a great low price. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 May 2004 08:13:26 EDT From: rawhite78@aol.com Subject: NJCRe: [EDA] gas boycott I'm sorry to sound cynical, but I doubt this idea will ever work. 1. We are too dependent on oil to just stop buying it, Sure one day is possible, but the next day, or the day after that you'd have to buy. One day proves nothing, and will cost the oil companies nothing. If you want to put a hurt on the oil cartels, sell your SUV, start riding your bike, car pool, quit riding around town, etc. 2. Gas stations make very little money on the gas they sell, sometimes to the point of barely breaking even on it. Most of the price of gas is various taxes, but even for all that we in the US have some of the lowest gas prices in the world (excluding Saudi..) Gas stations make their money on the junk they sell inside (cigarettes, candy, soft drinks, etc... In fact, that 44oz coke you bought for 99cents cost the store about 8 cents to sell you, and 3/4 of that 8 cents is the cost of the cup.) 3. You could hurt the oil companies by reusing plastic bags just about much as not buying gas for one day, and at least with the former you'd actually make a difference in the world by reducing litter. - ------- Also, anything that states you should forward it to all of your friends and/or is typed in with the caps lock on, should not probably be sent to the Jewel list... Of course, that is just my opinion, I could be just cranky. She was rockin when she won the contest to Open for Jewel, Dont know about all that Jumping since i wasnt there... But how was the Music? I have only seen her with the Band so it might have been more mellow, or the concert you were at She might have had a lot of Friends Family and Fans out there, since she is doing like 6 or 10 shows with Jewel. Anyways i didnt see the show, but lets give her a change, she did at least win a NATIONAL contest to open for Jewel... ****And I am adding ...****** Nah, it wasn't the family because she was the same way in NJ too. Sounds like the same set, same activity. But me personally I loved it. It is nice to see someone actually thrilled to be on stage ... instead of the old hat. She had more energy in her 12 minutes than I think Jewel had in her two hours. I mean what would you rather see someone who finished a set jumping up and down in joy, or someone who walks off stage like they have someplace else they'd rather be. Musically she had a good sound, it's not exactly my fav type of solo acoustic work, but she sang and played her heart out. And this isn't directed to this conversation but just an observation of mine. Why don't people show opening acts a little f'n respect instead shouting "we want jewel" (or whomever) during the whole set? Everybody was an opening act at some point. You buy a ticket, you know there is going to be one, so I feel like saying shut the f-up and go out the bar if you don't want to listen. Two years ago it was the same thing during Jason Mraz's set and now I those same people are probably bragging to their friends how they saw him way back when. Who knows, maybe Ryan will be to Jason's level a year from now ... sorry to vent ... just a pet peeve of mine. == Rob == "All the perfect drugs and superheroes wouldn't be enough to bring me up to zero," Aimee Mann ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 May 2004 18:06:47 -0400 From: shawn e williams Subject: Re: [EDA] JEWEL IS COMING BACK TO ATL!!!!!!!!! No I didn't. But I did hear the line up announced on 99x, too, and they also mentioned Jewel for August 9th. I know the concert series go on sale this saturday, I think. Maybe the individual shows go on sale at different times? But Jeweljk doesn't have the dates for August listed yet, so who knows.
