Stacy p. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Mar 2004 16:12:54 -1100 From: "miranda mente" Subject: [EDA] ROCKFORD Hello Angels I know the rockford,il concert was last week, but i'm a procrastinator and no one else has said anything. well, I thought it was going to be the worst day of my life when i woke up march 17, and was ready to head off to Rockford from WI, and i couldn't find my tickets ANYWHERE. But, i sort of found the tickets. I went to the concert- but still the tickets are nowhere to be seen! My fiancee called the theater to see if they could do anything about them, but since we bought them off ebay and were not the original purchaser, nothing could be done. Finally after 5 hours of looking, I email the guy we bought them from... and BAM he calls us back 2 minutes later. It was surely a miracle. All I did was cry all day long until he called! The guy had newly reprinted tickets waiting for us at will call. And our seats were awesome... in the 1st row behind the pit, and no one next to us do to the way the theater was curved. They were really really nice seats. The theater was gorgeous as well. The show was okay, not her best, (it was my 7th) it seemed to me that she definetely wasn't into singing that night. She kept singing the choruses a lot at the end of the songs... I think it was kind of like she didn't know what she wanted to sing... I dunno, hard to explain. She was more in some kind of goofy mood. Near the end of the show she said something how she's more into a talk show mode that night, and that we could ask her anything. It was one of the coolest touches of the show. Someone asked her when she was going to get married, and she said that she'd love to marry ty but he hasn't asked her yet. and getting married is a big step and kinda scary, so she's fine being in love and having great sex. You might be happy to know she played Boy Needs a Bike, for like her 2nd or third song... after she asked for requests. But she totally didn't know the words at all. I actually think she actually felt embarrassed - she apologized a lot and said how badly she remembered it and that it was embarrassing. I've never seen her not know soo many words like that. Someone had to come from the audience and help her out. Unfortantely it was not me - i haven't heard that song for so long myself since i only have it on cassette. And she said someone stole her lyric book from her suitcase, which she usually uses to rescue herself. She stayed away from rare songs the rest of the night. =( She was wearing jeans and a plain white tank top but it was like one of those one's you can buy at the fair, It said "Jewel" on it, but only mirrored, probably so it looks right when the pictures are reprinted. She was wearing a bright pink bra, you could see it. And a pink studded belt. She had on the big gold chandelier earrings, but Actually I'd call them more of like a Cleopatra-egypt type earring. And i like her hair better up close than i do in the pictures. Her shoes were just running shoes, like a tennis shoe, but for her encore she was barefoot. She told a new story, which she said she'd never told before, about when she was living in her van and so excited that someone from Virgin was coming to see her. She was washing her hair in the sink at Denny's, using the hand soap to wash it with... claiming the only sink in the women's bathroom, and these two old ladies walk out saying, "well she's pretty enough, I wonder how she got like THAT..." It was a cute story, and it's so awesome to hear one that i've never heard before, or that no one else has either. And I got to meet Sara ( "h" or no "h" on that???) She is so nice and very polite. Exactly what I would imagine every EDA to be like. =) Hi sara! Here's the songs I can remember that she played: (not necessarily in the right order) Near you always, Passing Time, Boy needs a Bike, Jesus Loves you, Little sister, Hands, Life Uncommon, What's simple is true, Break Me, Standing Still, Intuition, Stand, run to you, You were meant for me, foolish games, Who will save your soul, encore: lots of chat, Duet w/ Firstman, Chime Bells. She talked about her recent Nick and Jessica Show taping. She said that she thinks the show is great and full of Kitsch. That it's really cute, and it's funny that Nick sings a duet with Kitt, The car from the night rider tv show. But the other really cool thing was her opener, Joe Firstman. He is awesome. Her very best opening act ever besides poltz and the rugburns (of course). For an encore they sang the song they wrote together. He's really really good. We stopped to meet him in the lobby between shows and bought his cd. I think he's better in concert than his cd is though, but that's still good too. Kind of like how jewel's better live. I know everybody else has said it but, Make sure you check him out! The song they wrote together was so beautiful, i wish i had a copy of it. That's about everything I can think of. hugs*~ Mandy ~*"But don't wander too far, my one constant star, darkness exists, except where you are, my feet are filled with wandering, they follow your own, cause everywhere you are feels like home" -jewel kilcher, last dance rodeo*~ ~*"Call me naive, but i believe, your two blue eyes are all i need" jewel, does anyone believe in love anymore*~ MSN- sparkly_stick@yahoo.com yahoo- sparkly_stick aim- daisie eda http://buzztone.atlanticrecords.com/jewel_intuition/ [IMAGE][IMAGE] ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 22:19:39 +1100 From: "Stephen H." Subject: [EDA] joe and jewel I personally really love how close Jewel seems to be to Joe Firstman. A lot of "headliners" don't really even know their opening acts or bother to meet them... obviously Jewel took the time and made a friend out of it. I love Everything Reminds Me of You (if you want a copy, email me)... I think it's one of the most beautiful Jewel songs I've heard in ages and I really hope they record it for her next album.... Joe is an Atlantic Records artist so it COULD happen - there wouldn't be any record company objections for sure. If they have a chemistry together it's probably because... they have a chemistry together. It's not necessarily because they're sleeping together. Jewel seems very devoted to Ty so I don't think that she would be cheating on him, especially as she says she wants to marry him etc. Joe and Jewel are probably just really close friends... and he watches her from the side of the stage because he loves her musically... I think it's lovely! And hey... if she wants to hook up with him - more power to her. He's probably cooler than Ty anyway... haha. Just kidding... I just got mine in the mail yesterday. I didn't pay extra to get it on the release date cause I did that for 0304 and then wasn't home to sign for the delivery. I haven't watched the whole DVD yet, but so far I love it. It makes me wish I had tickets for a show this year. Maybe it's not too late for Jewel to come closer to Rochester. We're one of the 5 biggest cities in NY, but we've been ignored by Jewel for so long. But I digress. This DVD is the Jewel I love, just her and her guitar; although I'm one of the ones who enjoys 0304 too. So is the girl who helped Jewel with lyrics on Kiss the Flame an EDA? How great would it be to have that moment on DVD forever? "Don't wander too far, my one constant star. Darkness exists, except where you are." He and his band got quite friendly with her and her band over the course of the opening stint. I don't recall them playing together - but they were always watching each other's sets with a mutual admiration and they would hang out after the shows. If you waited around backstage it wasn't too uncommon to see the bands exit together. So, I would suspect that Joe and company are just a pretty personable bunch. You can see it in the way that he interacts with fans at impromptu signings after his opening sets as well. Anyway... that's all for now - I'm not sure, but I think that's my first post since something like Thanksgiving.... The postage was $1.98, yet I paid $3.99 for shipping. Not shipping and handling. What's the deal? I remember back when it was JMerch, I ordered the Jewel necklace, and it was shipped in a regular envelope with no padding or packaging, they paid the normal letter rate, Yet I paid a whole lot more for shipping. I went to the taping of this on 3/10/04 (I won from Jewel:UNEDITED) and she sang only WWSYS w/ Jessica (a duet). The Muppets weren't there so Jewel doesn't interact w/ them. They just played the clip for us that had the Muppets in it interacting w/ Jessica and Nick. I left before I could get the time/date so I couldn't post what they said, but I had found something online from the producers website saying it would be aired on Mar 28th. I just got an email from jewelink (yesterday?) saying that it will be aired on April 11 (instead of Mar 28th) on ABC and to check our local listings for the times.
