It was a very good show. Jewel played for about two hours including in that time was two encores. Some crazed spectator got onto the stage and security had to pull him off, Jewel let out a gasp when she finally saw him, which wasn't until security was pulling him down. She never continued the song she had started when he distracted her. Jewel seemed in good spirits throughout the show and talked to the crowd quite a bit. I heard the longest version yet about the story behind "Race Car Driver." Was anyone else at this show? Anyone record it? I want to see Jewel again! I want to go on the Velvet Rope Tour next time. I almost did this time but then decided for just tickets. :-( I saw the people going backstage to see Jewel. I also saw her bus at the side of the building, but I was not sure when she was coming so I eventually left. Good show. Great to see this raw acoustic Jewel. Subject: Re: [EDA] Set List - Long Beach, 12/2/03 8 PM Jewel energy surfed throughout the two recent (vastly but subtly different ) shows, in T-Oaks and in Long Beach. If you are energy sensitive, you could pick it up easiliy. When I'm sprung from jury duty and work sentences, later this week, I will paint you a picture with poetic lines, but, as a flavor, Jewel is surfing in on the crowds' energy, and she is reaching the crest of the waves. There are many waves, alot of them different. She has the tightest personal power, over both her voice(s) and her crowds, that I've ever seen. Lots of radiant energy white and orange light, all affected by the subltle yet big differences in the crowd energy, which itself varies from point to point within the same show. It's energy art, pure and simple. Jewel is for shizzle, my nizzle. Wait for your chance to see her soon and often. And take it. Not a lot of stretching in set lists, but every T-encounter is productive in an unexpected way. Jewel can be a new prototype, but I haven't finished mapping that yet. Just go see her, and look forward to it. Do it. Blame me if it's off. I'm not worried. You will get healed. A great experience, seeing T-Oaks and Long Beach. There must be something more constant than time, when every time I hear her sing "Violet Eyes" I see her and feel her as if it were now and always had been -- no time, space, or motion; just light. Music = Light. Quod erat demonstrandum per Jewellum, ad astrum, ad infinitum. (Whooosh!) Ask the talented and generous Melee Bruce for the deets.
