In the waiting area, she has her high school yearbook from 1985 (or was it 86? Anyway). I was flipping through it, and got a bit of a momentary shock -- I noticed the name Jason Mraz in it. It can't have been the famous one, though. Didn't look much like him, and the school's in Northern California... We will be making sure that everyone that has not received and authentic Jewel autographed picture, mean that Jewel actually touched that picture that you received and autographed it. In my opinion, they are treating us like we are stupid. Sending out "copied" autographs is pushing it just a little to far. If they ran out, they could have simply email us and said, hey we have run out of the autographed pictures, so we will no be able to send you one until we can arrange and time and place for Jewel to sign more, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. I will also be trying to negotiate partial or full refunds to all members for not getting what we were lead to believe we would. They are not only becoming immoral and unprofessional, but are starting to cross legal boundaries. I need a few things from you EDA's that are members. Here they are: (1) If you are a subscriber of Unedited that RECEIVED an AUTHENTIC autographed picture, please email me with your NAME and EMAIL that is registered with unedited. (2) If you are a subscriber of Unedited that RECEIVED a COPIED autographed, aka printed with the picture, please email me with your NAME and EMAIL that is registered with unedited. (3) If you are a subscriber of Unedited that HAS NOT RECEIVED a picture, please email me with you NAME, EMAIL that is registered with unedited, AND the month that you joined. (4) If you are a lawyer or no someone that is willing to offer minimal legal advice for no fee, please EMAIL me as well. (5) If you have a Jewel website that receives more than 200 hits a week, please email me, as I will give you a link to put on your site that will link other unedited members to this same information. (6) Also, please forward this to any Unedited members that wouldn't receive it through the EDA list. (7) Finally, I need as many formal complaint letters as possible. Please email them to me, along with your full name, email, and a contact phone number if they wish to contact you to verify that authenticity of the presented information. Enough is enough. These people don't understand polite emails and phone calls and enough is enough. Join me in bringing justice to Jewel Fans around the world! Michele, mine looks closer to your friends, but not identical. I can't tell (cause the picture is glossy) if the marker is in the picture or a real signature. So anyway, if anyone knows how to tell (besides using a microscope, Rob -- I don't have one) let me know. The signature on mine is a darker and looks like it may be different tone of black than any other black in the photo. And I did get mine a while back, so it sounds like mine is real, SullMa84. See ya, Theresa Gubrud ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2003 15:26:57 -0600 From: Theresa Bolger Gubrud Subject: [EDA] Re: The response I got to my complaint letter to Jeweljk It sounds to me like things are now just too spread out and there is no 1 place that oversees it all anymore. It would then make sense that there would be all these problems where there weren't before. I think we may just have to get used to it and realize that things aren't going to be the way they used to be, and Jewel's fans have become no different than anybody else's. I remember the first time I called to order from the jewel store, and me and the guy on the phone starting BS-ing about stuff (besides my order) and from the conversation, I could tell that he was also a part of the "Jewel team," not just some guy hired to take phone orders -- he told me what all he did, but I can't remember (this was years ago). The point is, it's gotten big and fragmented and I don't think that's going to change. Before, Nedra oversaw everything, and people like Mr. BB "multi-tasked." That's not the case anymore. Nedra left and it sounds like Mr. BB got a specific job somewhere deep within the Jewel management, that's pretty far away from the fans. Also, before, because Nedra managed, everything was just for Jewel. Fansrule, Music Today, Jewel's new manager and everyone else that takes part in the management process also has tons of other musicians they work with. That, in itself, is going to make things change drastically. She's not the focus or the center for anyone who's working with her now, which means her fans aren't going to be either. So. . . I think the time for acceptance is here, at least for me. I have too much going on in my life to spend any more time and energy writing, bitching and thinking about a something as minor as a fan club, even for Jewel. I still love her music and still plan on trading, going to shows, being a part of things like this list, etc. But I doubt I will join Unedited next year -- unless they start having downloadable, "ownable" music (and not streamed clips -- which are stupid) on that site, cause nothing else on that site makes it worth $40. So WHATEVER!!!! We are now mere consumers, people, and nothing more. I think we might as well face that fact. So, here it is: From: "Caitlin" Date: Mon Nov 10, 2003 4:05:45 PM US/Central To: "Theresa Bolger Gubrud" Subject: RE: The Unedited Website & Problems with Media Theresa~ First of all I want to thank-you for being such an avid Jewel fan, and caring so much about being part of the fan club. I will try to answer your questions according to how you had asked them: 1) The bonus track download comes from a completely different site, that we have no control over: www.jewelbonus.com. You should contact their webmaster. At the top of their site they also have different download instructions for MAC users. 2) There are now instructions on Jewel:UNEDITED site for MAC users who are having problems downloading: To play content that uses the MMS protocol, copy the link (control click the link and copy it). Then start your Windows Media Player application and choose "Open URL" from the menu and paste the URL you copied. 3) We will look into doing something about this month that you feel you are missing. 4) We are not in control of when and what pictures and audio we receive for the site. That is all determined by Jewel's management and not us. But the photos on the members' site are always better and different than the photos on the non-members' site. You had also mentioned your problems with presale tickets. All presale orders are through Music Today. If you or anyone else is having problems with presale you should contact Music Today and not Fansrule. If you have any more questions or concerns, let me know. Thank-you. Subject: Re: [EDA] Re: The response I got to my complaint letter to Jeweljk That's funny. They haven't changed the (few and meager) photos on Jewel:Unedited (or is it Jewel:Untidied?) in at least a month. And for 40 bucks, they should not be "passing" it (the "buck," that is). I'm starting to worry that my "will call" tickets will not be waiting for me in Thousand Oaks in two weeks. I remember meeting Chuck from JMerch for the first time at a street festival show in San Diego back in the day. I told him that I was an EDA. He asked me my name, and I told him just my first name. He immediately knew, by heart, not just my last name, but also my street address! Aside from what that says about me, it surely showed that they cared back then. It used to be so very special to be an EDA. Some day when I get some time, I'll tell some stories. I hope that things change. - -=-Larry-=- p.s., I never got ANY picture from Jewel:Unedited after I enrolled. Fine then don't be part of it. We routinely have companies that fail to deliver on content promised - so we fire them. Yes we fire people that are essentially our customers. There's no need to slap our name on something that isn't right. My point is why don't their forums work then??? That surely doesn't have anything to do with anyone but themselves. Second point - they mailed the photos from their address - they are the ones doing the fulfillment - they are the ones responsible. If I ordered a CD from Amazon and Atlantic sent them a bunch of burned CDs to fulfill orders with do you think Amazon would have sent them out? Do you think they would tell customers that it isn't their problem? == Rob == ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2003 20:03:03 EST From: LuckyStarr42@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Re: The response I got to my complaint letter to Jeweljk Angels, I know this probably sounds stupid and naive, but if there anything the EDAs can do about the suckiness of Jewel Unedited. Let's face it, Jewel doesn't have a super strong following outside of the EDA's and you know that we are the only one subscribing to it. I'm a college student which pretty much means I'm broke and I wasn't about to spend $40 so I could go to a special webpage, so I am sure that someone who isn't obsessed with Jewel isn't going to subscribe either. What if we all contacted whoever needs to be contacted and everyone decided to not renew their subscriptions or just not join period. They are scamming the EDA's because we are the only ones who would ever pay $40 to see special pictures of Jewel or whatever, which is bullshit because they need to be rewarding us like they used to. We never had to pay in the past to have a chance to buy tickets before they go on sale, and I'm sure they don't have anything special like NashBash planned anytime soon. Those are my thoughts on the matter.... xoxo, Ashley Staggers the Sweet angel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2003 23:55:42 -0200 From: "Fabio" Subject: [EDA] 2 Become 1 goes for adds 2 Become 1 has gone for Hot Ac adds. It only got 7 :-(... Anyway, it got already Los Angeles, so it's a good thing. If you check JewelJK, you can see she'll be doing some radio concerts, which, most of the times, leads to an add. This is what Hitmakers had to say: JEWEL "2 BECOME 1" (ATLANTIC) - MARY CONROY grabs 7 for the new single, starting with Los Angeles: KYSR, KEZR, KQMB, KLLY, KMHX, KPEK and WIXM. The song went for adds really fast, so maybe next week we'll se some more adds. We can be certain some stations will add her, starting with San Diego, since they add everything she releases, including This Way. Well, we can only hope!
