First off is Charlotte Martin (www.charlottemartin.com) who a friend happened to point me in the direction of. She reminds me a lot of a young Tori Amos, but to compare her music to Tori's would be doing her a huge injustice. I just recently bought her EP "In Parentheses" and it hasn't strayed very far from my CD player yet! I can't wait for her first major album release... Next up is Terra Naomi (www.terranaomi.com) who I knew nothing about until I stumbled across her website from a link on Charlotte's website (above). She is very much acoustic based and sounds not all dissimilar to a pre-spirit Jewel - which in my opinion is nothing but a good thing (I'm not going to get involved in the "Has Jewel sold out?" argument, she has the right to do what she wants musically - just suffice to say I liked her better in the old days). Some of you may have heard of one or the other of these artists, but both have free tracks available for download from their respective websites and I'd highly recommend you at least give them a listen. I thought I would never experience the same kind of excitement about an artist that I had the first time I heard Jewel sing, but coming across these two on the same day came quite close!!! Is it worth it? I'm a bit nervous about doing it, how long do they give you to talk to Jewel? I hope it isn't too long as I would be too nervous. How many people did the velvet rope when you did it? Thanks, Steve ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #430 ***************************
