Ok on the shower scene, if you look very close :) you will notice that she has a towel on. i think that is cute, funny, and should have been edited better. but no big deal, if you don't notice it then you really think she is Nakid.... My friend Kathy was the one in the Video, right after the guy brings her the take out food, you see the gal and the kid at the white house, thats Kathy!! with the short hair!!! You Go GIRL!!! This is where the Jewel is SHy part comes in. Between scenes and after jewel would change, she would come to the set in a robe. Then take the robe off even if it was just that sexy outfit at the end, tell them, hurry up lets get this done, then put the robe back on.... What a trip, you wouldn't think that after being all over the Big screen, and doing videos, and being such a Hottie, that she would be that shy... Just another reason why i love her... also she looks so beautiful in the video, grrrrrrrrrr baby! definitely GrrrrrrrrrrER! Kevin the Carnivore Don't forget check out my website www.gotlocalmusic.com still in the building stage, but keep checking it out.... Before long, she was mega-platinum and famous. Then she dropped out of sight, recently reemerging with a slicker sound and a hot new look that had her fans and critics shocked. Jewel's new facet was very polished, very sexy - and, said critics of her video for the song "Intuition," very Britney. Jewel told ABCNEWS Primetime's Cynthia McFadden she finds the comparison to teen idol Britney Spears "funny." "It doesn't annoy me," she said. "They just didn't get the joke on the video. You know, that video was done with such tongue in cheek. You can't take it serious. I'd be amazed if any critic genuinely took it seriously." But some did, calling the video a "rip-off," "a fake," and a "swaggering departure," designed just to sell records in a crumbling industry, furious that the country girl had dared engineer such a radical change. "The video gets more and more ridiculous, more and more over the top to where, hopefully, you know it has to be a joke," Jewel said. "By the time I get to the fireman scene - I'm being hosed down - you realize it's just a pastiche on music videos and what happens in music videos." 'Sexy and Smart' Jewel is particularly proud of her latest video, "Stand," just released this month. "I feel like my career's in a place where I understand it, where I love music and I love to be able to be able to play it," she said. "But, you know, it doesn't consume my constant, every thought. So, like, I can kind of have a balanced life. . I feel better in my body. I feel sexier than I've ever felt." On the brink of 30, Jewel said she loves her evolution, going against the grain and playing against type. "I really do challenge the idea that you can't be sexy and smart at the same time," she said. Poor in Alaska Discovered at a coffeehouse 10 years ago, Jewel rocketed to fame, a new breed of folk-pop singer-songwriter. She was 19, with an amazing voice and an amazing story. Jewel grew up poor in the Alaskan wilderness on the same 800-acre homestead as her father had - no plumbing, no hot water, but plenty of music. "My parents had a show in a hotel when I was real young," she said. "And I learned to yodel, and did that on the stage with my family." In many ways, it seems Jewel had very little childhood. By age 8, her parents divorced and her mother left her with her father. She remembers the beginnings of depression that would follow her throughout her life. "It's starting to [go away] more and more," she said. "I think I'm learning more about it. . I don't want to spend the rest of my adult life learning to get over my childhood. And I think music's helped me a lot with that." By 14, Jewel was singing in bars with her father. By 16, she was living alone in a one-room cabin. Looking back, she feels she may have grown up too fast. "In a lot of ways, I was protected, too, just by grace, probably; I don't know what," she said. "But luckily, you know, worse things could have happened to me that never did." 'It All Worked Out' At 18, she made a decision to live in a van, at her mother's suggestion. "I don't know if it was a good idea or not," Jewel said. "But it all worked out good." With no rent to worry about, she could concentrate on her on her music. Ironically, since those days, she has spent most of her time living on the road, touring the world. Little wonder, perhaps, that the idea of home is so important to her now. Just this month, she bought a new house in Los Angeles. But for Jewel, at this point in her life, home is not a place, but a person - Ty Murray. Murray is her boyfriend of the past five years and a seven-time world champion cowboy. "He's a really constant love," she said. "He's also a really dependable, decent grown-up. I don't know many grown-ups in the world. He's a real man. And I know a lot of children that are very old. And he's a real accountable adult. And that's just a really rare thing to find." "I'd like to get married at some point," she added. "I don't believe in causal marriage. I know Ty doesn't either." After two years off on Ty's ranch, Jewel said life feels "really good." "I feel saner than I've ever felt," she said. "I feel like I have a better shot than I've ever had. . I really like getting older. It suits me well." ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Sep 2003 11:50:39 -0700 (PDT) From: Jason Quattrini Subject: Re: [EDA] concert a PPAC - --- Lilgaleq@aol.com wrote: > Is anyone going? Jewel came out looking beautiful in jeans & t-shirt. we were all lined up & one buy one were able to go up to her. i had her sign the poy cd cover & then her tour manager took a picture of me & jewel together wth my camera, and then one of my friend with jewel also. i told jewel it was so nice to meet her & handed her a card i had written for her. then i asked her if she would play studies in love #12 , i told her i heard it the first time i saw her back in 97 but hadnt heard it live since & she was like- "ooh, i dont know if i remember that one" but i had written the lyrics down, so i pulled the paper out of my pocket with the lyrics & gave them to her- she said shed try to remember & handed the paper to her tour manager saying hold on to that cuz she'll need it. so we went to our front row center seats & caught the last few songs from josh kelley- prety good! then jewel came on around 9. opened with acapella- YOu are my sunshine. then played 2 find u which sounded real good acoustic. so i'm waiting for her to play studies in love #12, after about 6 or 7 songs i see her pick up this piece of paper- which ws the lyrics i wrote her. i told my friend- "thats my paper" & then told the girl next to me that i had written the words for a song i wanted her to play & she said that was so sweet. so then jewel says to everyone- " i had a meet & greet b4 the show & one of the fans i met requested this song & i guess i'm gettin predictable that i sometimes forget my own songs, so he pulled this out of his pocket- & she hold ups the paper. now im in heaven, then she says- "if u were a real fan u would have put the guitar chords on here too or maybe brought me a dozen roses." by now the 4 people next to me, enjoying their bud lights all know it was me who wrote the lyrics & are screaming to get jewels attention & pointing at me, so i stand up & start yelling too- finally she turns a sees me & points & then says- "i was just kidding about the flowers, this is fine. then she plays studies in love #12 & it was beautiful!! made my life!! just thinking of the thousands of people that were there & she had my lyrics i had written & played one of my faves!! the whole show was great- other great songs included carnivore, rosie & mick, foolish games, near u always, & actually some of the new stuff- haunted, stand, intuition- sounded great acoustic!!! she dedicatd wwsys to tbone, which was sad. but for the most part, she ws in a funny mood- she said the tour producers were worried no one would show up if she wasnt sprayed down with a water hose! anway- awesome show as usual & getting the chance to meet jewel was a dream come true! if anyone recorded this show- PLEASE let me know. - -Matt ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Sep 2003 18:56:22 -0700 From: "Melissa Bruce" Subject: [EDA] Lyons Den Does anyone know which episodes Jewel is going to be on?
