Jewelblues@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Aug 2003 22:37:55 -0700 From: "Allison Crowe Band Management" Subject: [EDA] bye bye Mr BB I've just learned the sad news about the departure of Alan/Mr BB. I can only hope this is an instance of "when one door closes, another door opens". Mr BB deserves nothing but fulfillment and joy in his successes. In today's music industry, it's rare indeed to find people who genuinely love an artist for who they are - not for their money, status etc. etc. It's rarer still to find someone working in management who genuinely cares for the fans of an artist. To many in "the biz", we, the fans, are wallets to be picked, numbers to crunched, demographics to be analyzed, email addies to be spammed etc. etc. To Alan we are friends. Thanks for all your years of service to Jewel, and to this community of EDAs. You'll be greatly missed here. Best wishes to you ( : Much love, peace ~ Adrian ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Aug 2003 02:17:11 -0400 From: "Sandy" Subject: Re: [EDA] Re: Selling videos > re:SELLING VIDEO--- I thought we are not allowed to SELL videos of JEWEL? Jewelblues@aol.com no, we're still not allowed to sell videos or anything else for that matter... we can only ask for s&h & tape costs. Mike made a post about this shortly after the last person who tried to sell videos like a month ago, but apparently this person didn't read it =oP ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Aug 2003 02:48:10 EDT From: Tarynssmith1@aol.com Subject: [EDA] NJC: Live Journal I was just wondering if anyone had a Live Journal code that they would be willing to email me? It's a Swedish magazine like Blender. She's is THIS MONTH'S DATE! There is some info about her and how she get popular. I can't believe they wrote that she made a horrible Christmas album! I think it's one of the greatest!! :D Anyway, here's the link. There are some great resolution pix too! ;) http://www.cafe.se/ */Marcus Ngo ____________________________________________________________ Vad ster det om dig pe ndtet? I really liked it. I was very suprised that This Way was downloaded 8 million times. I know it doesn't necesarily mean that 8 million would've been sold, but it is definately a huge impact on her sales. Perhaps Jewel actually is almost as popular as she was in the PoY days, but downloading just makes that much of an impact. I actually like how they said that she looks a lot prettier in real life than on the cover of 0304. I can agree with that, because to me, the cover of 0304 just looks unnatural. The mention of the budget being cut this time around would explain why she licensed Intuition for a commercial. On a little side note, I watched a program the other day called "The New Music," and the episodes topic was on artists licensing songs for commercials. It was a rerun from before Intuition, so Jewel wasn't mentioned. I was actually really suprised at how recording artists many do it though. People jump on Jewel's back, but did you know that Moby has licensed every one of the songs from one of his albums for commercials? There were MANY artists mentioned for doing it, even the ones who tend to be really respected. I'm not saying that its okay since everyone else is doing it, it depends on your point of view, but its definately not like Jewel is the only one. Well, thats about it. If you havn't read the article, go check it out! Mark P.S. It actually said that Jewel has dyed her hair to near white. Whats that all about? o,o _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Aug 2003 09:22:06 -0500 From: "Philip Nelson" Subject: [EDA] Changes I became a Jewel fan when I discovered the AWESOME community surrounding her. I liked the music I heard on the radio, but when I discovered the EDA list, the Angle Food Network and how accessible Jewel seemed to be, I was drawn from a casual listener to a Jewel Fan. Some of the most impressive things that have been done for the community in the past are Letting unsigned acts open for her, letting unknown filmmakers direct her video, giving EDA a "special hookup" for her events... I get the feeling that as Jewel surrounds herself with more "traditional" management and staff, the things that led me to become a Jewel fan will start to go away.. Soul City Cafi is gone, EDA's no longer get 1st shot at tickets unless they PAY to do so, etc... I hit three concerts during the last Jewel tour (Jones Beach, Houston and Austin). I'll definitely hit one of the 0304 tour stops, but something is different this time. Jewel doesn't seem accessible anymore.. (Not that I've ever met her, but with her close ties to the community, she seemed close to her fans.) Here on the list, we see many negative changes lately and haven't seen a positive substitute. Lets hope we see some awesome change that will surprise us, but I'm not holding my breath.. My 2cents..
