Throughout the rest of the taping they told us when to clap, when to clap louder and when to be quiet. Just before Jewel began playing we were applauding louder - - then they told us to stop and she began to play Intuition. They had given us the sign to be quiet. For anyone right in front of the stage - all anyone had said that it was ok to do was stay out of the way of the camera men at the front of the stage. Nobody had told us that it would be ok to get louder, and we wanted to be a good TV audience and not get removed risking losing a moment of watching Jewel perform. So - sorry Jewel, as easy as it is to applaud for you - by the end of the taping there we were not of our own minds - we were barely better than trained seals who play happy birthday on a set of horns. We wanted to yell and scream for you - but no one had told us that it would be ok. We promise - we'll be a lot louder for you on your fall tour. Trust me, you don't need anyone prompting us as to when to applaud - the correct answer to that is, well, all the time.
