I was just at the taping of the show... It was sooooooooooooooooooo Awesome! Jewel was so hot in person... and Cathy (EDA) yelled out "We Love You" and some one else yelled that out too... Then Jewel said "I Love you too... not Love, but like i want to have sex with you.." So that was pretty funny... Craig was cool too, we were in the front row so we were able to meet Craig, and had a great shot at jewel while singing and sitting... what a sexy outfit! Maybe Maxim. Okay, Maxim & Stuff are, in content-wise, basically the same magazine, so if she's calling Stuff smutty, then Maxim or FHM would be considered the same. IMO, Playboy is NOT smuttier than Stuff *at all*, Stuff/Maxim etc.are blatantly 'smutty' without showing actual nudity, Playboy may be a nude magazine but it's not smutty, it's classy, they don't show huge zoom in crotch shots or stuff like that, and they don't tend to make the same crude comments that Stuff or Maxim would... for godsakes, Marilyn Monroe posed for playboy, it's as classy as nudity can get. If it's "covered" nudity, I'd definately say it's either Rolling Stone, or Vanity Fair. If she decides to go through with it (and whatever it is, I say go for it, if she's feeling like she wants to put herself out there like that, it's her perogitive) I'm not looking forward to the debate that ensues about Jewel saying she refusing to pose like that for Maxim etc. before... ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Jun 2003 22:23:11 +0200 From: "michiel" Subject: Re: [EDA] yeah jewel naked very likely in magazine hehe imo This just rocks, the idea of jewel being photographed in a stylish nudish way, is just too beautiful for words.. i want to see it first before i believe, but this looks good should old George Pepperd say from the A-team...he always loved it when a plan comes together and so do i think i wouldlove it when the plan to publicise and share the more naked photos of jewel in a playboy magazine! jewel has the beauty and the style to be posing for playboy...she would be the scoop of the year in terms of music starts.. the hype that that will create will make jewel in one fly even more populair than she already is! Actually, she posed as Marilyn Monroe, not Norma Jean Baker, and she posed more than once, but even the very first playboy ever, in 1953, it was as Marilyn Monroe, and wasn't in the "early days" of her career, she'd been established for about 5 years, and although that first pose wasn't at the peak of her career, she was suitably "famous" at the time of posing. > I think by saying that the magazine isn't Smutty because Marilyn monroe > posed in the fifties, is a little strange.:) Marilyn Monroe was a strange > person, not exactly classy. I wasn't necessarily saying it isn't smutty just because Marilyn Monroe posed, I just meant in general that I don't consider the magazine smutty, if you're comparing nude magazines here, Playboy is as classy as they come.... and "as strange" as she was, I still consider her a classy lady, despite all that happened in her personal life. ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Jun 2003 14:05:29 -0700 From: "Chuck Ody" Subject: Re: [EDA]NJC Playboy As long as we're being picky AND judgmental. Hugh Hefner bought the rights to the famous photos of Marilyn Monroe to launch Playboy, so she really didn't pose for Playboy then, altho there were later Playboy shoots. One photo that was chosen for the cover basically put Playboy on the map. I agree Marilyn Monroe was a little strange, most artists are, but to say she was not exactly classy is inaccurate. I really think that Yes You Can would be a very successful second single. It is so radio ready (it may need to be a little shorter) and while it's really not Jewel's best writing, it is pretty good and upbeat too-- and her voice sound great at the end. - -- Chrissy PS-- I think that any nude type photos on the cover of any magazine would be bad PR right now with the way that some of the media is already reacting negatively to her new look. I won't say anymore until we hear more-- but that's my opinion. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. This was obviously before 0304 came up. She said she liked the idea of using numbers - one of her ideas of 2004. She also said she thought of using a title that combined the natural "lyric-driven" element with the "programmed" element.. to form sort of an oxymoron. Like Sound Lab or Intuitive Science. That sounds interesting. I prefer 0304 to those two.. but the idea is cool. Steve.
