It's funny that she offered this to Santana because it's so very much in the same type of vein as Smooth.. I could see this going over in the same way as that one. To a lesser degree, of course, but I still think it could be a summer hit. And then Stand could be the following single as we come into fall with the chilled-out vibe. Just some thoughts. A lot of people off the list think Yes U Can should be next, too. (I'd be happy with Stand, BTW. So... We'll see.) - -- Scott http://scott.rocket-fish.org/ http://syd.rocket-fish.org/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jun 2003 23:21:01 EDT From: Spirit1924@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Jewel in BLENDER~! "Lets go back to bed" "do you wanna catch a cold with me" "Stick your finger in my buttercup" 'Your body be a tender vine, That twists and turns just like mine" "You feel so familiar as you get into bed" "Sister likes to feel her up" but nooo, Jewel has never talked about sex at all before, and is so subtle... lol .. Okay, didn't want to address this until I've had a chance to really, really listen to the new album, but concerning lyrics... I'm sorry, but from what I've heard, the lyrics on the new album cannot compare to some of the stuff in her catalogue. I'm sure 0304 will sell a lot of copies, I'm sure a lot of people like it, but I do not. As for the "true fan" crap... I'm sorry, but if I have to compromise my personal taste to be a "true fan," then please do not send me the Official Juel club decoder ring. I like Jewel, and think she should be free to take whatever turn she wants, but I refuse to vote for a song I do not like for the various "make it # 1, support jewel, spread the word" reasons. That would be against my beliefs, and would only perpetuate the selection of music that I do not care for. Sorry, but the official 0304 tee-shirt doesn't look good on me anyway. As for the "c'mon, we're EveryDay Angels" retort to people that do not care for Jewel's current choice of music, clothes, and whatever else... You know what? We ARE EveryDay Angels, not Department of Jewel Propaganda, and Brainwashing. Long before 0304, This Way, and even Spirit we were here together as a community. Sure, that blond chick was the force that first brought us together online, but somewhere in the middle of all night gatherings after concerts, the long lapse between POY and Spirit when there were often more NJC posts in a day than JC, and the flowing, often long posts about something some EDA did for another, the focus shifted a bit. Suddenly there were EDAs gathering without a Jewel event to just hang out, EDAs coming together to actually make a difference in the world instead of just scrolling through digests, posts where there were more words spent on describing the kick ass EDAs met at a concert instead of what color nail polish Jewel wore that night. There are people on this list that have spent many hundreds of dollars and thousands of miles to see other EDAs sing, graduate, get married, and other basic human things. These things are part of being an EveryDay Angel. Being a mindless sheep that agrees with anything that comes out of someone's (even Jewel's) mouth is not. Promote a song if you like it, but do not accuse people of being less of a fan if they do not agree with your opinions... and for damned sure, do not accuse someone of not being an EDA for voicing their own opinion. There is more to being an EveryDay Angel than being on a mailing list, or for kissing an artist's ass. At least that's what I think, Rowdy The Don't Tred on Me angel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jun 2003 23:31:33 -0400 From: "Scott" Subject: [EDA] Re: Yes U Can Hm, as evidence of the general public loving it..
