It's a chart made up from the playlists of hundreds of radio stations across the world! Standing Still never made it onto that chart. Jewel debuted at #33 last week and jumped to #26 this week. COOL! Steve. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Jun 2003 11:11:06 +1000 From: Stephen Hallowes Subject: [EDA] sales I've seen a few emails to the list to find out if MrBB or others can tell them how 0304 is going to sell. Well, I posted this earlier but I'll post it again if people are confused. According to one-day sales (which are used as a guide to figure out how it will sell over the whole week) 0304 is likely to sell around 140 000 copies this week, which will be good enough for a #2 debut on the charts. In a normal week, that would've been good enough for #1. However, last Monday Metallica decided to push up the release of their new album from Tuesday June 10th (not in direct competition with Jewel's first week) to Thursday June 5th (in direct competition with Jewel). They did this cause they were afraid of internet piracy. They're a huge band and will most definitely outsell Jewel in the 4 days that they have before the chart week is over. So - in short, Jewel is going to debut at #2 with around 140 000 (this is a prediction, not an actual figure... but the predictions are usually quite accurate). That's excellent. It's almost the same as what This Way debuted with. Except that This Way debuted during the Christmas seasons, where sales are generally more than they would be. Also, there's more competition so This Way only debuted at #9.
