Looks like Jewel signed a new publishing deal. Publishing deals and record deals are very different. Record deals are like... for recorded works, and "recording artists". Publishing deals are for songwriters and have to do with money for royalties etc etc... like, if a movie wants to licence a Jewel song they have to pay through Jewel's "publisher" and then Jewel gets a cut or whatever. This probably explains why all Jewel's new songs were listed on the EMI Music Publishing website, and not on the Warner Chappell publishing website. She used to be signed to Warner Chappell..... I guess now it's EMI. Interesting..........it doesn't at all mean that she's switching record companies though. A lot of artists (who are writers) have publishing contracts with different companies. Although it's possible that when her contract with Atlantic is up she'll be in the position to make a jump. As for the Central Park concert, the way they've been advertising it is: its a free concert but with limited space, so i suggest getting there early to make sure you get in. also, they were having call-in contests giving away VIP passes for special up close seating and i think one winner would get to meet Jewel. Other than that I don't think there's seating. There are no tickets required for the general admission. I'm going to try and make it to the pre-show gathering, but if I don't we should at least try and all hook up at the show and maybe do something after. If I remember I will wear this little clip on light I have that blinks blue and yellow so just look for the flashing dork and that will be me! LOL.
