[Marcus Ngo Subject: [EDA] Intuition video =) So, right as I was about to give up and go shower for school, I heard the accordian strains of "Intuition" fill the room. I look over and there is some homemade video-quality footage on the screen of cars going by on a street, kinda like that Fatboy Slim video, "Praise You." I was like "What the hell??" Then the camera goes to Jewel and follows her through the first verse as she walks to a vendor and picks up a bottle. Her shirt then blows open and we get the first burst of the high-quality glamour Jewel. So the video continues like this, interspersing moments of this craziness into the amateur-quality video. Jewel in a black miniskirt in front of a JEWEL sign. A zoom in on the butts of guys in the street, only to find out they're wearing the new JEWEL tab jeans. Jewel dancing with insane eye makeup and many backup dancers. And many other things until the end of the video, where a once again homemade video-quality Jewel laughs and walks away. So, the video is much different than I thought it would be and much different than I would have done it. It's creative and it's pretty obvious that it's irony for anyone who's doubted her. If you don't get it from the video, you're DENSE. It's very, very obvious. There's not enough of the pretty eye candy glam Jewel for me, but I'll live because I knew that was her point. It's just that she was soooo pretty. It's more subtle than I thought. I don't know if this will get the shocking video of the year award. But it should get some attention, so good. And the fact that it's not all poppy and pretty means she doesn't have to maintain that video look for the rest of the album. The only thing that could go wrong is that people watch it and don't realize it's a joke (although I don't see how anyone can take Jewel in a mini-skirt dancing in front of a huge 'Big Pimpin' display too seriously). But even then, they will just see Jewel looking really hot singing a catchy song, so whatever... Anyone else see it?
