Huge difference between sarcasm and actually saying 'there's nothing wrong with "worshiping" Jewel like a God, and anything said against God (Jewel) is wrong'. If you were attempting to be sarcastic, I apologise. Just to clarify, Mraz isn't God, but he is a nice guy and an excellent singer and songwriter. Anyway, doesn't everyone know that Katie Holmes is God? As for the masturbating... No comment. She changes, makes a new record and tries to let people feel a new song and vibe. That is great, a new jewel with new songs, a new video for Intuition. The techniques in Intuition are great. My father who is not a big fan of jewel but who knows i worship Jewel likes the new song, he says it has a cool beat. My dad is 55 years old , so LOL you understand what i mean. Jewel is going to attract other fans, that is always a good thing. The way she wrote the new song really reminds me of a great artist who is there for the fans. I just want to let my heart follow , with every song that jewel makes it grows on me. For example in 1997 when i heard You were meant for me on TV i really did like the song a great deal. Then i listened to the record, and was thinking wow is this the same Jewel as on the single?? and the more i listened the better i liked it, since then Jewel is a hero for me. And only heros are there to save your day. I do love the change that jewel has tried to make a new song that get in your head! Jewel you rock!! The song is beautiful with a lot of nice instruments and new sounds!!! YEAH!!!! michiel the dutch jewelfan http://www.jewelkilcher.nl a dutch tribute site for jewel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Apr 2003 02:22:06 EST From: Pixi42@aol.com Subject: [EDA] *****SPAM***** geez give us a break... Listen, some people just dont like the song. its not because jewel is "changing", its not because it is too "poppy" and jewel is suppose to be acoustic or whatever, its not because jewel has forgotten her roots. Why cant people just have their opinions? Im sorry i dont like the song. i listened to it over and over and over and i still dont like it. i think it is crap. yes the lyrics are good. but i dont like the song. i do however see that jewel is doing her thing and experimenting and she had fun making the record. and i take my hat off to her. i am glad that she is broadening her horizons and trying new things. But...i still dont like the song! :) am i allowed to do that? cause i feel like u guys are just pulling things out of nowhere. i didnt read one post saying that jewel "sold out" or that shes trying to be something shes not or any of the stuff that you have been writing in your emails. someone said they werent going to buy the cd and that is fine! they just dont like that kind of music! I respect jewel, i love jewels ideals and voice and soul. i always will. and im sure everyone else does too or else they wouldnt be here, but let us have our opinions. stop trying to be like well no you have to like it because its this and its that and rah rah rah lol It doesnt mean that we think jewel is jumpin on the bandwagon. we know who she is and we know that shes doing what shes doing cause she wants to do it. (well i do anyway) nobody has lost faith, nobody is breaking all their jewel cds and setting her books on fire cause they are so distraught over the song:) ok i cant speak for everyone but this is the basic jist i am getting from the "i dont like the song" emails:) anywho that is all i have to say about that:) Peace:) Heidi when the rain came you asked me how it felt i told you to stand outside yourself for a while but, silly me you had an umbrella ~Nancy Micciulla~ }:}i{:{ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Apr 2003 08:20:28 +0100 From: "Tom H" Subject: [EDA] My thoughts on "Intuition" I definitely thought twice before sending this post. Mainly due to the hypersensitivity of EDAs now, and the likelihood of getting accused of chronic masturbation if I say too much against Jewel. But then I figured I could handle the flames, because my delete key has had a lot of excercise over the last few days. I like the song, at the same time as disliking it. I like the lyrics. I understand what a lot of you are saying about the irony of it all, the fact that Jewel's playing with the whole 'pop' theme. Yeah, the lyrics are good, witty and a bit clever. And you're right, that's is the most important thing. *But* you can't enjoy a song if you don't like the sound... And I don't like the sound at all. I expected this new "funky" Jewel to at least sound original. This song sounds like Jessica Simpson - you know, trying to sound like Britney, but not quite as cool. Don't get me wrong, it's not pop music I'm against. I'll readily admit to having Justin Timberlake's album (I even bought it myself) and not being averse to singing along to Britney or even (on a rare occasion) Christina. I just don't like the sound of this song. It sounds like it's been done too many times before. It just doesn't sound original. And I don't expect Jewel to not be original. I'll still be buying the new album. I have every faith that the whole CD won't be like this. The thing I'm really worried about is how this is going to affect Jewel's career. Everyone seems to think this is going to be a huge single for Jewel and that everyone's going to love it. I really hope so, for Jewel's sake. But I can't see it doing that well. As I said above, it sounds a little too generic. And I can just see people thinking 'Jewel's trying to cash in'. I'm worried that people are going to think Jewel's trying too hard. As for the arguments... This happens every time a new album is coming out. It's old and it's boring, but kind of reassuring that, while Jewel changes and evolves, the EDA's will never change :P. OK, that's it, I'm off to Mrazturbate again. According to director Marc Klasfeld, Jewel was shaken up but physically unharmed. "Considering the extensive damage to her hair, she's been incredibly good natured about the entire mishap," Klasfield told reporters. When asked for comment, Jewel replied, " I was diverging from my previous musical direction and style anyway, so now I'm forced to assume a new look, as well. The stylists have done a wonderful job with my hair, but for the next video, I hope they'll choose only flowers or any other inoffensive backdrop." PEOPLE CHANGE!!! DEAL WITH IT!! What you don't seem to understand is that people are ALLOWED to have different opinions! Just because I don't like this new song doesn't mean I am a closed minded person! I don't care if she changes, I was expecting it. However, just because she is Jewel doesn't mean that I have to like it. So why don't you calm down and realize that not everyone is going to agree. > poor Jewel. just think how she'd feel if you told her to her > face that you > absolutely HATE her new style. She'd be crushed! Honestly, do you think she is going to care? Do you think that Jewel would curl up into a ball and cry if I told her I hated her new single? Not likely! She is in the business where people either like you or not. My opinion isn't going to change the way she is. I wouldn't want it to. If she is happy with the change she has made so be it. I am hoping that the rest of the CD is better than this song. > i'm sticking up for Jewel no matter what! Well, if you want to live a life with blinders on be my guest. Maybe I am just more mature and realize that I don't have to like everything she does. I also don't care if you think I am being a bad EDA for saying that I don't like the new song. I will still be a Jewel fan. I have liked everything she has done up until now. I am hoping that new material will be better.
