Hence why the song sounds soo "poppy." I mean, just listen to those lyrics...our Jewel shines through in that song. And we. EDA's, know this cuz we've listened to almost everything Jewel has written. WE know what Jewel is trying to get across in just about all her songs. Although when this song hits radio play, the general public will be a little confused at this sudden change of Jewel and her music. BOTTOM LINE: (lol) For a couple months now we've been getting Jewel Links, letters from Jewel, Lenedra, etc. telling us what we should expect from Jewel musically..we've been aware of this new sound from her...the public hasn't. They're gonna be hit with this single and wonder what she's attempting.. without truly understanding why she's doing it, and maybe even what the lyrics are about. I really don't know if I like it or not! I definately like the first part, but after that it is VERRRRY pop. VERY pop. I just can't wrap my head around it. Its DEFINATELY a new sound, and VERY pop. The chorus is pretty freaky, everyone whos heard it knows what I mean. The "heearrrrt" thing hehe. The lyrics are good, it definately saves the song. Its not my type of music, even if it is Jewel. I think I can grow to like it, I don't have any problems with it, its just, I can't put any words to it. Its catchy, well crafted, it has the makings of a great song. Its just a little too pop-like for me. But like others said, it is probably the most pop song on the album, and the guy from the vh1 chart says the same. Also, I loved Standing Still. This Way was a GREAT album. It was my kind of thing. I'm just still trying to form an opinion on Jewel's new song, if I like it or if its just too pop for me. If it is the latter, I PRAY that Jewel keeps her word on the acoustic album, which I will love no matter what. This new song is just too hard to describe!
