Which in my case will be some trick, indeed. Since you asked, she was wearing form-fitting beige pants that looked like riding pants, Jimmy Choo boots (I only know that because one fan asked her what kind of boots she was wearing, and, frankly, I didn't even look down to see them), and a slightly darker beige velour jersey zip-up sweatshirt, with hand pockets in the front, that was two sizes too small. She heard her bandmates songs and thought they were better so she put her ego aside and put those songs on the album. It's easy to say "well they're my songs, who cares if yours are better, IT'S MY ALBUM!!" ...but i got the feeling she wanted to create the best album possible. It's a good album, but i have to be in the right mood to listen to. I'm looking foward to seeing how her career evolves. The picture is there and they can add a little bit of themselves to the work, but they are limited and it's not totally theirs. I think the respect part is the fact that an artist who writes songs and performs them is considered more of a "true artist" since everything you see, hear, etc. is an expression that is purely from themselves. An artist who performs other people's songs is not expressing themselves in true form, though they may be able to interpret or relate to the song they are singing, it's still not their words. They are similar to an actor (not the same though). This is not to discount people who don't write their songs because I feel Norah Jones is extremely talented and it's impressive the success she has made with the type of music she has chosen to perform. The thing is, I think people should recognize there is a difference and give credit where credit is truly due. If someone like Jewel is doing "all the work" (for the most part - basically writing and performing - thats the point), she should command a little more respect than someone like Norah or Britney who do not do everything themselves. Hi all, Recent discussions of the "old days" of this list brought up the meaning behind Jewel's songs. So, it got me thinking... *Have you ever interpreted Jewel's meaning of a particular song differently from general interpretation (whether it be just the first time you heard it or every time you hear it)? *Have you ever had a particular personal reaction to any of Jewel's lyrics, relating to your life that had NOTHING to do with her meaning of the song? *Have your interpretations of any of Jewel's songs changed after you saw her music video? Or after you saw her perform it live? How about after hearing her discuss the song? *Do you think any two of Jewel's songs share the same meaning? *If you were to ask Jewel about the meaning of any of her lines/lyrics/songs, what would be your question? Looking forward to your answers... But not as much as I'm looking forward to INTUITION!
