Her album won 8 in total, which is including the 5 that she won. She won: best new artist record of the year album of the year female pop vocal performance pop vocal album her album won: song of the year best engineered album of the year (non-classical) producer of the year (non-classical) ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Feb 2003 07:00:49 -0800 From: "Jewel Worshiper" Subject: [EDA] NJC: grammys... hey... look what i found: - --- A lot of people are upset over Norah Jones winning so much, believing that she doesn't deserve it. That may or may not be true, but according to my insider she was intentionally handpicked to win it all. Why you ask? Simple... The Grammys were conceived not so much to award quality music as it was to try to dictate the direction of music. The board for this year consisted of a number of angry executives who don't like the "direction" music is heading into. Believing they still have influence, they picked out a collection of "classy" music headed by Norah Jones and gave them all the awards. Their intention in doing so was to try to change the direction of music, to shift popular taste away from the "trashy" music and back towards the music the board prefers. They're notorious for doing stuff like that, that's why it took YEARS for Springstein to win anything, why it took YEARS for the early rock bands to win a Grammy, and why they would showcase Simon and Garfunkel but wouldn't even televise the R&B award. The joke among people just outside the inner circle is that that board doesn't get it, and that for the past several years, their plans have actually had the opposite effect, as "hipper" awards like those on MTV are more accurately setting the tone for music, and people regard the Grammys as being "lame," "boring" and "out of touch." The board just doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that they've completely lost any pull they MAY have once had. - --- i get it now... :) - --Jewel Worshiper-- http://www.angelfire.com/sk/killorgeteven/pale_shade_of_grey.html (my Jewel Page) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jewel is GOD WWJD --- What Would Jewel Do "the hardest thing in the world is to live in it" ~buffy "cheerleaders are dancers who have gone retarded" ~bring it on _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 02:26:52 +1100 From: Stephen Hallowes Subject: [EDA] more pics at Wireimage Wow... But i want to see real cool music concerts of jewel on dvd. I don4t understand why the jewel merch team and the jewel management team is underestimating the power of jewel4s live recordings for her fans. it is also a way to get more fans, and to keep fans pleased. it is so damn cruel that the fans can4t watch a lot of jewel4s great concerts she has given in her live, are not available on video for fans! The concert in the Royal Albert Hall dvd A New Wild West Tour concert dvd A This Way Tour dvD A Spirit tour dvd! Come On Jewelfans and admirers of great music, get the jewel team to release a live dvd!! The more they give the fans not the amusement they want, the more dissapointed they will be in the end of days! So change that attitude, and Jewel i am sure you would love to share live dvd4s of your own recordings! Michael began doing this show when he was 14 years old and after years of local popularity is soon going National! He will launch his new show on E! Network on Sunday, March 2nd at 10:30 pm EST/PST. We'd like to give you a heads up that Jewel taped a new segment with Michael which will air on his new show next month sometime. We're not yet sure of the date, but we'll let you know ahead of time, as well as post it on the jeweljk.com calendar when the broadcast date has been finalized. ******************************************** ***SOUL CITY CAFE: A new page that showcases the talents of the SCC Insiders is now online! Since launching last June, a great group of people has come together--many of them talented artists--in the Insider message boards. There are two components: a Featured Artist area and the Open Mic column, where we post raw examples of Insider artistic expression (poems, songs, links, etc.). There are new Open Mic postings every day. You're invited! Go see what our Insiders are up to, then become one yourself.
