Dee ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jan 2003 22:57:46 -0330 From: "Mark Austin" Subject: [EDA] Rock Stars do the dumbest things Well, the fact that it made 2 Million dollars for the HGH and ClearWater means that its a VERY SMART THING. A very good thing. But if we are going to back up the actual poetry, we shouldnt forget that the number of copies sold doesnt necesarily represent its quality. Jewel has a huge fanbase, and is well known. That contributed to sales. Im not putting down the poetry, I havent had the chance to buy it yet ( I will soon!!!!) because I've never seen it in stores or always had other things to order online if I was even able to do so. And Britney Spears debut sold like 11 million in the US. It contained such classics as "E-mail My Heart." So I dont think that sales necesarily represent quality. However, the fact that it sold over a million copies in such a market even despite the fact that she is a music star is phenominal and must have something good to it. If it was as bad as some critics say it couldn't of sold so many copies in that market. So for now, lets say screw you to "Rock Stars Do the Dumbest Things" and etc, it doesnt matter what critics say as long as you love something yourself. Lets wait and see how the 2004 book of love poems comes out, shes been working on it for ages and ages to come so lets see how well it is to ourselves and critically I guess. Peace, Mark P.S. For the 0.01% of you who didnt get it, I was being sarcastic when I called "E-Mail My Heart" a classic. I dont think bubblegum pop that the "artist" doesn't even write should have a chance at becoming anything near the title of being called a "classic" or any title for that matter. Im not going bash Britney and tell you all how much I hate her; because I don't, but I am not a fan at all. I have not purchased a CD of hers and never, ever, ever will. But do think it's good that she is actually contributing to the writing the music part a little more. Thats always a great improvement. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jan 2003 22:08:19 EST From: Mrazfan@aol.com Subject: [EDA] [NJC] Jason Mraz...extra copies of E Minor/Sold Out?! some of you may have read my post on rightkindofphrase.com... but, I'm getting desperate. I know some people get annoyed by Jason Mraz discussion. Sorry for that. Anyway, as I said in the forum, my car got broken into a while ago.. $200, my guitar, and CDs got stolen. my cd visor with 24 cds...luckily most of them were CDrs that I burned from originals so that the real ones stay mint (I'm a bit of an audiophile, I admit it)... anyway, I happened to have all my Jason Mraz orig CDs in there.. E Minor, Live, Waiting, and Sold Out... three were signed, so they had a bit of sentimental value. As you Mraz fans might know, E Minor and Sold Out aren't available anymore. I luckily got Live right before they took it down from the site recently. I'm still looking for E Minor and Sold Out! I'm desperate, and sad. Thank God none of my Jewel CDs were in my car! Any once-Mraz-fans-but-not-anymore on here that don't want/need their copies? Anyone with dupes? I'll buy them, trade for them... name your price. my left arm? FINE WITH ME. black market left arms. we could start a new thing here... please. I figured I'd have a better chance finding someone willing to give up the CDs here.. since everyone in the forum is probably attached to their CDs. THANKS! Please email me if you can help. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #18 **************************
