Well - Why release an album that you've already released as your debut? Why do something you've already done just because you know it works? If you're a chef at a restaurant and make a really great pepperoni pizza, do you stick with pepperoni pizzas for the rest of your life just cause they're really good, or do you try and go for a ham and pineapple? I mean maybe people really love the pepperoni... but wouldn't you go mad making the same kind of pizza everyday for the rest of your life? I'm sure Jewel will at some point release another acoustic album... but experimentation is GOOD. It will make her a better MUSICIAN, more capable of doing different things and working in different styles. It will only further her talents as an acoustic musician. It's so limiting to just be one thing musically for your entire career. How do you think artists like Madonna and The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan have sustained themselves over the past 20-40 years (depending on the artist) - they've changed, experimented, reinvented themselves. Imagine if Dylan had listened to all the detractors who said he shouldn't have gone "electric". Imagine the songs we would've missed out on. Jewel is an artist. Don't put her in a box. Lo Hewitt I don't know if any of you are into Meredith Brooks or Jennfier Love Hewitt, but I was reading the liner notes to J's album, and Meredith Brooks and her actually co-wrote most of the songs, except Bobby McGee, and Meredith produced it. You should check it out cuase it's actually good and her cover of Bobby McGee will give u chills. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jan 2003 17:17:42 EST From: W1GGY2@aol.com Subject: [EDA] NYC area Living Room Concert! Hey, everyone! I'm excited to announce that the lovely and talented Randi Driscoll will be playing my living room in Jersey City on Sunday, January 26 at 3:00 pm. Since it's Superbowl Sunday, we're making the show early enough that you can go on to any parties you may be planning to attend OR you can stay at my place and watch the Superbowl with a bunch of people who are fun but not very much into sports! The show is a Project Warmth concert which means that the only "cost" of admission is the donation of a warm coat, blanket, or sweater. These donations will then be distributed to local homeless people who could use a little extra warmth in their lives! Randi Driscoll lives in Los Angeles and has gained national recognition for her song "What Matters", written for Matthew Shephard who was killed several years ago in a hate crime assault. "What Matters" has been featured in several documentaries and was given a special mention in Rolling Stone magazine, in an article featuring Elton John and Melissa Etheridge. The song has also appeared in several educational films and documentaries, including an NBC film on Matthew's life. All proceeds from the song have been generously donated to anti-hate crime charities. Randi's music is beautiful and she has an incredible heart and great sense of humor. I promise you'll have a great time! Visit www.randidriscoll.com for more info on Randi. RSVP to me at w1ggy2@aol.com for directions and further details. My house is easily accessible via car (10 minutes from the Holland Tunnel) and bus. You can also get here via train and ferry. Bring as many friends as you want! Just try and give me an approximate count of who will be coming. Hope to see you there!
