I haven't really looked for it in a couple of years, so it could be that something has come about since then, but I would tend to doubt it. If you really want a good female version of "House Of The Rising Sun," I would suggest Joan Baez's. I would imagine Jewel's version would be somewhat similar to a young Joanie's. Jeff Koko > The last track on the Odetta CD is "The House of the Rising Sun". Now > I know Jewel has sung this too and I'd love to hear it as well. So, > if anyone out there has a recording of Jewel doing "The House of the > Rising Sun", please contact me. ===== Trade List: http://www.57thstreet.net/cgi-bin/display.pl "I DO know what my songs are about. In fact she might end up getting relegated to the jazz categories. My guess for Best female pop vocal performance winner will be Avril Lavigne.... As for Shakira... she swept the Latin Grammys, so that might mean she's ignored at the regular Grammys. I dunno. My guess is Jewel will get at most one or two, but the likelyhood is she'll be ignored again. However, surprises happen every year. Remember India.Arie getting 7 nominations last year. Who saw that coming? I definitely think she has a chance at best female rock vocal performance. Alanis Morissette got nominated for her live performance of So Pure that appeared on the Woodstock '99 CD a couple of years ago... so obscure songs do get nominated, so I definitely think LMJLMA is a possibility for that. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Jan 2003 06:16:39 +0000 From: "now and zen girl" Subject: [EDA] Re: self magazine... wheres jewel? has anyone got the self magazine with jewel in it yet? cus i looked through the self magazine for january, and shes not in it! does anyone know anything about this? alisa - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Jan 2003 11:42:06 -0500 From: "Pupecki, Stacy" Subject: [EDA] jewel photos for trade does anyone have any nice color photos of jewel on tour, at special events or anywhere that they would want to trade for angelfood? i have over 120 shows on cdr to trade. i would like 4"x6" photos that are very nice quality and sort of close up. reprints are ok, too, but please no scanned copies. please email me privately. Avril Lavinge getting best pop vocal? Im not sure about that one. She can definately sing (I'm With You) but I've heard much better pop vocals. Its just none are coming to mind right now lol. But I did hear Avril live on tv once (on much music, he pants were falling down so it was like nothing but her crack on the camera) I dont know if it was just that one performance or the jumping around or if shes always like it, but it seems likely she is a very studio sound, not live. But I doubt that will affect the grammies.. If they took live singing into account who would win? WHO?! YES YOU KNOW WHO. Love Me Just Leave Me Alone. Someone here told me that alanis morsette and sheryl crow got it for songs on the woodstock 99 cd! Not necesarily a single. And I dunno about Michelle Branch getting best new artist. Hasn't she already been around for a bit? I rememeber one of her old videos that were out before the spirit room. I *think* she had an album before that... And I dont know about Shakira either. She has been around for a long time, but only recently came to the states. I dont think that counts as being a new artist ^_^. But I have no idea lets just keep our fingers crossed!
