I don't know Patty Griffin's songs really well, but I heard Top of the world, and I know it's not on a released album so I was surprised they were playing a bootleg. Does anyone in the Minneapolis area have more information on this? I always go to the Women's expos because they are so much fun. Normally the musical act is free once you buy the $10 (or whatever) ticket to get in the door. Do you think it is going to be the same with this? I need information because this is coming up very quickly. :) Mi Rinda ***TWO NEW JEWEL CONCERT DATES Two events that Jewel will be performing at early next year: On Saturday, January 11th, a ClearWater Project Benefit featuring Jewel performing solo acoustic, will take place as part of The Women's Expo in Minneapolis, MN. The concert will be held at The Grand Theater in the Convention Center and all proceeds, after expenses, will benefit HGH's ClearWater Project. Contact the Convention Center box office for all ticket information. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Dec 2002 09:57:16 -0600 From: "Kovacs, Mirinda" Subject: [EDA] Minneapolis ticket information http://www.mplswomensexpo.com/mpls/index.htm Okay, I answered my own question with a little searching. Apparently tickets went on sale for this concert on November 15th! I don't know why JeweLink didn't get the information out to us until yesterday. Anyway, I just got main floor tickets. They are $40 a piece. The only thing is that the confirmation doesn't tell you where your seats are. It just says main floor. Who knows! So, if you are interested in this show I would suggest getting tickets now. I have been a member of this mailing list since not that long ago and I = wanted to write a little something to contribute this community. You all = have been saying so much about how Jewel's songs were meaningful to you. = I have to add that these very songs actually saved my life. Several = times I was in big life crisis and listening to songs like 1,000 Miles = Away, Down so long, Morning song, Carnivore, YWMFM, Last Dance Rodeo or = Studies in love #12 actually helped me in a way that it made me feel = better about myself, it made me feel some feelings I didn't know I had. = Jewel has not changed my life, she is not the most important person in = my life (I prefer more available people who can be there for me:) but = her songs and her poetry incented me to do something, to change things I = wanted to. Most important of all, Jewel taught me to be honest and how = not to hold back what I really feel. It's nice =0)I was listening to Foolish Games, and I wondered who the song was about. I wonder if any of Jewels songs are about Steve Poltz? And the second thing is: Dammit I forgot...oh yes. Does anyone think Jewel will put out a B-Sides cd at some point? I mean she has soooo many songs, good songs, that aren't on any albums. She could put one out in between albums or something. No Doubt released A Beacon Street Collection which are B-Sides, in between No Doubt and Tragic Kingdom. Jewel was quoted a few years back, like in the 1998 time-frame that Foolish Games was a conglomeration of a few poems she had lying around and melded them into one song. The POY version of FG is my all-time fave recording/song by her. Six years after first hearing it it still wells up tears in my eyes.
