I think this sums it up nicely. :D I'm actually surprised how many people seem to have read the entire account. I started to, but after the first page or two (scrolling according to my browser window) I got tired of trying to keep track of sentence fragments. I realize standards for our written language have declined, but those ramblings were an incoherent mess, almost like he was writing stream-of-consciousness. Anyway, apparently he's an independent, possibly struggling artist who thinks any legit artist can sell work for thousands of dollars? I was able to read "$25,000" easily. :) I just find it hard to entertain the idea that $500-1000 is "desperate" when that's what I see gallery artists selling paintings for(that's with someone to rep them; they get maybe half that from the gallery). Most of the artists I know personally wouldn't be comfortable talking about selling their work at all, of course. If you try to talk about buying their work they look around helplessly for a friend to rescue them. :) So about there I gave up entirely and concluded he's an arrogant snot jerk who figures he's entitle to be heard simple because he used to be an *angry* arrogant snot child, who found some other culture's religion/philosophy and figured there was easy money without breaking the law, in art. He may be a real artist, in the sense that he can't seem to express himself in words, so he turns to his painting. However, I get the impression it's due to lack of effort on language skills and not due to a failing of the language, in his case. :D Maybe English isn't his first language? Even so, there are lots of people (on this list over the years, for example) who are able to express themselves much more clearly. Maybe I'm being mean, but from his rantings I just can't find any reason to feel the guy deserves more than he got, either. I've certainly seen paintings that impress me more than his. I'd suspect the "PR" guy was really just trying to buy the work to be nice and help him out, more than thinking he's an artist to promote.
