I was wondering: How many memebers does this list >have? There are three versions of this list: Jewel, jewel-digest and Jewel-news. The Jewel & Jewel-digest lists get each and every post to the list, just in different formats. The Jewel-news list gets only the posts that are of a news nature, either about Jewel or list-member events. The Jewel list presently has 240 members. It maxed out at 846 for a short period in 1997 but in it's heydey the list usually had about 500 members. Jewel-digest is presently at 518 members, with a peak of 1062 about 3 years ago. Jewel-news has 619 members, and its' peak was 1355 in the 1997-1998 timeframe. If you get a chance go see a musical called MAMA MIA. It's a play written by half of the members of the swedish group ABBA. Besides being totally entertaining the music is very, very good. They sing 20 abba songs. Usually I'm not the type to go see a play but this was so very well done. It was actually pretty funny, not your usual boring play. Currently they are in hartford, connecticut but I'm sure they tour around the world. Go see them if you get a chance, you won't regret it. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 07 Nov 2002 14:19:34 +0100 From: Marcus Ngo Subject: [EDA] Jewel didn't want to share the Rolling Stone cover with Shakira and Britney. Hi, I don't if this news has been sent or not. Anyway here is an article from the swedish paper, EXPRESSEN: http://www.expressen.se/article.asp?id=128331 Jewel didn't want to share the Rolling Stone cover with Shakira and Britney because she thinks that they aren't enough ROCK N' ROLL! - -I would have been very silly if I had been on that cover. The cover doesn't have enough of integrity to call an issue Women In Rock. Nothing against Shakira and Britney but...it was why I said no, she says for Steppin' Out Magazine. Maybe a really really bad translation, but at least you understand.... */Marcus Ngo _____________________________________________________________ Hdr bvrjar internet! (11/6/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, Jewel, and hip-hop production duo the Neptunes (a.k.a. N.E.R.D.), are among the artists who will participate in a benefit for VH1's Save The Music Foundation at the New York City club The Bottom Line on November 20. The artists, along with R&B producer Jimmy Jam and others to be announced, will appear as part of Songwriters In The Round--Generations Volume 1. Each will perform two of their favorite own compositions as well as a song they wish they had written. They will also discuss songwriting methods with the evening's moderator, legendary Elton John collaborator Bernie Taupin. However, contrary to previous information, country legend Willie Nelson is not appearing at the event. Songwriters In The Round is part of the annual New York fundraiser for the Save The Music foundation, which aims to reestablish music education in public schools across the United States. Tickets are $750 per person. Matchbox Twenty's Thomas, for one, has thrown his support for the Save The Music in the past. In 2001 he appeared at a public school in Buffalo, New York with Senator Hillary Clinton to celebrate the successful restoration of music curriculum in that city's school district. - -- Neal Weiss, Los Angeles - ------------ Chris. http://www.jewelfan.co.uk : Jewel - Pieces Of UK http://pub70.ezboard.com/fmusicpromosdiscussionfrm14 : Official UK Jewel Forum ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Nov 2002 14:15:52 -0800 (PST) From: Princess Lauren Subject: [EDA] Song tabs...HELP!!!
