Not trying to sound harsh, but to be working again with Rick Nowles isn't the best thing... I have to give him credit because Standing Still has a fantastic beat but I can't say the same about This Way (not to mention that really clever lyrics). Also, Linda Perry is getting pretty cheesy lately. I didn't like her work with Pink, specially the lyrics and her production of SHA was not near as good as the original... Ok, but I REALLY am hoping she'll put on some jazz songs, not jazzie, but pure jazz and some bossa nova (Shadows Play) would be a lovely surprise. So we'll probably have POP (Rick Nowles), POP/ROCK (Linda Perry) and Jazzie songs. What about country stuff??? I would LOVE to see a country/jazz/blues album. That would totally rock! Just to check, I'm not bashing anyone, and I can't say much because I haven't heard any new song, so don't get mad of me.... MTV Brasil just released a note where they say that Jewel will release a hip hop album in the beginning of 2003. They say she's recording songs with Jeff Townes (DJ Jazzy Jeff), and that last month she recorded with P-Nut. They say also that according to Atlantic Records, she'll release the new album in the beginning of 2003. Well, we all know she won't release a hip hop album but is it possible that she'll release the album in Feb/March??? Hope so! I think too many people jump to one conclusion or another about artists too. Because someone doesn't like their sound, they automatically suck regardless of the musical or vocal merits of the artist. Personally, I don't like artists that don't write their own music and/or don't play their own musical instruments. I karaoke a lot, and a lot of people can sing and do it well. However, how many people can write a really great song or play the guitar well?? That takes talent. I don't really like Avril Lavigne, but from what I understand, she writes her own music. I can at least respect that... (Although I can't stand the fact that she dropped out of high school. Is that true???) And, although Celine Dion has a beautiful voice, I won't buy her records because she doesn't write her own stuff (I think). I have heard people sing Celine Dion songs and sound just like her. A LOT of people can sing, but it takes a true artist to write from your heart. So, that is my gauge for talent. Write your own stuff and play an instrument!!
