I'm curious to see what she's going to do but I think Jewel would never ruin her music and become some wannabe ashanti or mary j. blige or something. I think she just might incorporate it into some of her music..and still have it sound like Jewel. She's probably just exploring different styles of music or was inspired and wants to experiment. I have faith in her and I think whatever she does, she's going to do a good job on it and make it work for her. I guess we won't know until she puts out the album though. - -Tanya ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 19:38:13 -0400 From: "Stacy" Subject: [EDA] jewel's comment isn't everyone making alittle too much out of her comments about who shows up to see her in concert? she probably wasn't prepared for the question and just answered it the best she could. haven't any of you thought about what you said afterwards and wish you said it differently or added something to it? don't forget she gets quoted or interviewed probably a dozen times a day. it's fine to talk about it, just don't dwell on it. anyways, who would want to be like her and have everything you say scrutinized? what she said was her opinion and this has been mine. take both with a grain of salt. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 20:50:24 EDT From: SullMa84@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Guys on Lilith
I'm a guy and I liked the whole concept of Lilith Fair cause there are alot
of talented females out there, and you don't get the chance to see a whole
bunch in one night, where as you can go see tours like the one Eminem and
Limp Bizkit did, and there's many others where there are several male-fronted
bands, so I think that Lilith is cool cause it gives you that opportunity to
see many artists that you are interested in, but you probably wouldn't pay
money to see them alone.

I'm just curious as to why you guys don't like Kelly Clarkson. I got to meet
her in Chicago at the American Idol Concert, and she is so humble and sweet
and she isn't trying to be the next Madonna or anything, she's just doing
what makes her happy. I know alot of people don't like her because of the way
she way she got into the business, but she's worked hard for what she is and
she is very talented and sweet:) And she's FAR from trash...she doens't
wearing "slutty" clothes, and your not hearing about her sex life every 5
minutes like you are with Britney. If you don't like her, keep your comments
to yourself.

I personally love the idea of Lilith Fair and think Sarah McLachlan is
awesome for organizing it. My record collection has always read like a
Lilith Fair concert. However, I respect that Jewel had her own tour and
didn't participate in it the last time. She's kind of a solo kind of gal and
Lilith is not for everyone. I don't know if it was an issue of schedule
conflict or just preferring to do her own tour, but either way, I doubt
Jewel would do Lilith b/c she's so busy doing her own thing and being her
own person. However, I'm a fan of Sarah and I'm glad to hear she's coming
out with another album. I know she had a baby a year or more ago and I'm
psyched to hear she's resurfacing... (no pun intented since her last studio
album was called surfacing)

ok... i've been getting quite a bit of emails about this so... i'll explain.

Sarah didn't DO anything. It was one of her bitch fans who pissed me off.
:)

ok... i wasn't gonna talk about this but... oh well. i HAVE mentioned this
before when it actually happened a couple yrs back, but no one noticed i
guess. So i guess i'll say it again. She was on this radio interview here
in Fresno, CA. and well... i'll send how it went.

DJ-interviewer: was it one of those over night sensation things... you're
just, suddenly there you are... you're a big star---

Jewel: *interupts* do you know anything about me? *angry tone of voice*

DJ-interviewer: well of course i do

Jewel: well then why are you asking me this? *angry tone of voice*

DJ-interviewer: *studderes* well... because basically im asking you this for
the listeners... benefit.

Jewel: The listeners know everything about me, believe me!

DJ-interviewer: s...sorry i so offended you. Do you wanna go on?

Jewel: yeah, yeah :)

So... ater that.... lots of callers started saying how Jewel is stuck up and
how shes a hypocrite. And some guy was like... "i didn't know that much
about her... but i can tell you i will never buy one of her records...
ever!!! because i felt that she was totally arrogant, and out of line!
thats just my opinion" and this girl was like... "she should grow up and be
more like Sarah M.!" And the DJs were like.. SARAH IS A COOL and all this
crap so... yeah. Stupid reason as to why i don't like her.. but... oh
well.

Please, No requests on getting this interview yet... im still working on
it! :) thanks.

Subject: [EDA] old school eda onlymebea's performance in dallas

so i was in dallas for a conference for the company that i work
for and i was walking around in an area of downtown called west
end with a group of guys that i work with. we where just out
looking to get something too eat, but just by chance we happened
by this open air theater space and there was a girl
playing a jewel cover from pieces of you w/ an acoustic guitar!

i ditched my friends to go hang out and listen to her and she
was really really good. she was also playing some original
material that was totally impressive. she has this really
amazing thing she does where she kinda mixes some super fast
hiphop/rap in... anyway, after her 1st set i went and
introduced myself and what do i find out but that she's an
eda too!

(hello bea if you are reading this) 8-)

hearing someone playing a little old school acoustic jewel was
the most fun i've had listening to live music is a very long
time. 8-) not to advertise or spam or anything, but i would
kind of like to share this "new artist" with the rest of you,
since i know allot of you will enjoy her stuff just as much...
and since she's an eda and way to quiet to share it herself
apparently. ;)

she has a concert on the 27th, but unfortunately i was only
in dallas for a week so i can't go see it (i am back on the
road now). but if you would like to hear some really good
acoustic music that is reminiscent of jewel's early stuff
you should definitely check it out...

if you are way too far away form texas like me to go but
still wanna hear her stuff her website is
http://www.onlymebea.com/ she was playing sets with this
band (or artist?) called pullingwool which i remember being
mentioned on here before. i can't remember the guy's name
but he was cool to listen to too.

i donno if she's performing in soul city cafe or not.

anywayz just thought i would let you all know....
