Eagle In Flight eda I love Jewel... And also, I love you guys too! because you guys have taken such an important part in supporting my favorite artist, encouraging her with your time, your spoken words, precious gifts, and the countless many other ways. Let me tell you why I love Jewel, because everyone is apathetic to anyone who says they "Love" without a true heartfelt answer. I started listening to Jewel in 1995 on windows 95 I was perplexed at this because this is the very first Music CD my little brother Tim has EVER purchased for himself. My brother Timothy is about 6 years younger than me, and after listening to Jewel, I was amazed at how I became hooked to it, it was not her voice, but the messages she had to say through her lyrics... Let me tell you guys... Jewel's lyrics are so powerful, and so meaningful, that they are the very force that have brought us all together and made us family! I think of how Jewel has changed ME as a person and let me just say... I cannot count all of them! I will say that I have more confidence in myself, and my dreams than ever, and Jewel has helped me break out of my DREAMY state of existence that I had, and realize YEA I am my own captain! I have complete control over the outcome of my life by the simple decisions I make on a day to day basis... and it is a day to day struggle, and all that struggle is worth it! I think Jewels music really helped me question the very true basics about life, and what is true, and what really matters most. Jewel helped me realize the keys to true happiness and fulfillment, making your own dreams come true! AND most important, doing it in a way that makes the world a better more wholesome place to live. Jewels personal commitment to her HGH and clearwater organizations has also been a deeper message, and that is to recognize the big picture, and how the world is in need, and there is so much that everyone can take part to eliminate the needless suffering. These are the littlest acts of kindness, and its the little things that all add up to be greater than the biggest things! I want for a moment to reflect on the power of the things we type and the things we say, but most importantly, the power that our very actions have. Does anyone here know how powerful an action has over a word? It has a tremendous power, and explosive energy! I wanted to say that because ALL of you have transformed your thoughts to words, and your words to action... and by being part of the EDA you have done that, and it has encouraged Jewel in more ways than I think I know, or you know, or anyone knows... By doing this it has influenced the world. On a final note, this wont be my last post, but this is my very first and I want everyone to take a moment to recognize how important your actions are, and dwell on the idea of doing something special for Jewel this week. I love you all!!! -Daniel Eagle in Flight EDA ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Oct 2002 18:31:57 +1000 From: "*~*Lauren*~* ." Listening to all the live recordings I received lately has made me love Jewel even more. The following idea crossed my mind. Wouldn't it be much more efficient if we had a FTP site to do trading. That way the costs of shipping would be avoided. Moreover if one person uploads a concert he recorded everyone who has access to the site can download and enjoy it. Of course there should not be placed any songs that were released on the site. Every decent fan will buy those and the ones who don't aren't decent fans. I think of this as a very good idea. I don't believe we would do Jewel any wrong by trading live recordings of her shows through FTP. How do you all feel about it? Has anyone the facilities that are needed to setup a quality ftp-site? I would love to do that myself but I haven't got a high speed internet connection. Someone out there with a high speed connection that is willing to setup a ftp-site. It wouldn't even have to be online 24-7. We could also make agreements on the times that it's online. Please react to the whole list so that we can discuss this. - - Floris _________________________________________________________________ Meld je aan bij de grootste e-mailservice ter wereld met MSN Hotmail: http://www.hotmail.com/nl ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Oct 2002 10:21:06 -0700 From: "Elizabeth Nguyen" Subject: [EDA] EDA shirt mistake? The outlook looked grim when I arrived at the Barnes and Noble =( Apparantly, they gave out tickets early in the morning and there was only a certain amount they were giving out. I wasn't aware of the ticket situation as well and arrived at 6:00-ish. I wish I had called and asked beforehand, but alas, it's over with so it doesn't matter =) It didn't look like I was gonna get through from what I gathered from the workers there, but I got in line anyway. There was a guy actually scalping tickets! And he was asking for triple digits! How rude. Anyway, I bumped into this man, who for some reason thought he knew me and told me he might be able to sell me an extra ticket, and that was it and he went inside. And I'm standing in line and suddenly I see the tall lanky figure of my some friends I knew who went to my high school (it was so random that I saw them there). Then we figured out that we could enter the store and try to see the cast from aside (might as well). Upstairs I saw the man again and I asked him about the ticket again. We bargained (I thought he was a bit shady) and I eventually conceded and bought the dang thing. So I stand in line and the lady in front knew the guy who sold me the ticket and felt sorry and gave me an extra ticket (these were all standby tickets by the way ... not even REAL tickets. But I must admit, they were GOOD standby tickets because they did it numberically, and this was the beginning of the standby line). Another friend walked around asking for tickets and got no response, but when she went to go sit and read, and a lady gave her a ticket. So at least they got to meet the cast too. In line, we got an Alias trading card and a neat keychain. Then the line started moving and it went by pretty quickly. They were done with a little over a hundred after 45 minutes. I got in line, and the ABC people were crazy about the picture policy. Even if you tried to take a picture from far away. I don't quite know they're reasoning, I imagine they just don't want to hold up the line ... or I dunno. JJ Abbrams was really nice. I thanked him for his wonderful creations. Merrin (who plays Sydney Bristow's friend and roommate) was really nice, she asked my name and shook my hand. Basically, I was grinning from one ear to the other and said, "I don't know what to say, so I'll just smile brightly," (dorky, I know!) and then we chatted a bit =) I shook Bradley Cooper's (he's Will Tippin, the reporter) hand too =) And then I asked Jennifer Garner to sign to me (personally) so that was nice. She's so teeny and adorable! And who can forget about Michael Vartan who is just the hottie you'd imagine him to be in real life. It was a great night. Hectic, yes, but definatley fun. Barnes and Noble definately wasn't expecting the crowd and it showed. The ABC people weren't that friendly, but I suppose they were just doing their job, so I can't really blame them. So yeah, the ticket situation didn't really go well I think because a lot of people didn't know you had to get tickets. I mean, I knew I would be late because I had work, but I just expected a big long line. Ticket distribution makes more sense, but again, there wasn't enough information. The ticket situation just gave people opportunities to take advantage of fans who just really want to see cast members. Oh yeah, and the guy who was trying to sell his ticket for $300 sold it for $75 =| That just plain sucks. Elizabeth, the whoo!-i-met-the-cast-of-alias-angel =D Oh, and P.S. I won tickets to a haunted house thingie (The Crypt!) from Star 98.7, my local radio station (the one that houses Ryan Seacrest and Jamie and Danny in the morning) on the way home! Hahahah ... that makes it the 3rd time I've won something from them. That's why I love that station! so yeah ... fun. I think we should try to have Jewel added to the band list. Then all EDAs (and other interested fellows) could share recorded live performances. Ok, what do we need? First, the taping policies of Jewel. I know I've read them here. But we would need like an offical link or something. Mike? MrBB? Then we could have Furthur add Jewel. All we have to do then is share the recordings. Sounds good to you as well? Then show your support for the idea. I sure would like to share my recordings. The book follows her New York Times best-selling 1999 poetry book, A Night Without Armor, and 2000's Chasing Down The Dawn, a collection of her vignettes, observations, and stories. Jewel told LAUNCH that the new book will be quite different from her previous works. "I'm working on another book of love poems. It will be just love poems this time. It's a sort of saucy book. It's explicit in places and sort of...Violent isn't the right word. It's a very energetic--it's not a sort of passive book. I'm having a lot of fun doing that." LAUNCH asked the singer-author what her boyfriend--former professional rodeo bull rider Ty Murray, 32--thinks about her steamy new collection of poetry. "They're usually about him, so he's OK with it," she replied. Enough said. Jewel will kick off the next leg of her New Wild West solo acoustic tour of North America in support of This Way at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland, Maine, on November 7. - -- Jason Gelman, New York For more news at LAUNCH, click here.
