It's a really neat place, i recommend it for anyone who wants an entire concert bootleg...unfortnately i haven't seen any jewel concerts yet, but there's some steve poltz and rugburn stuff that's really neat tom the "cactus" angel >Unfortunately, it would be >pretty difficult to make a piece of software to eliminate or reduce the >DLing or released music to the point where it's no big deal. The entire entertainment industry strategy revolves around encryption technologies and other "anti-piracy" features instead of trying to make money. So far, they're more concerned about control than thriving as businesses, and it's hurting them. They've spent far more money and effort fighting the Napsters of the world than they have on developing their own online offerings, so of course people are still finding that the piracy technologies answer their needs better. Like videotapes and other technologies, the industry needs to realize that the answer is not in encryption technologies, but in finding new business models that answer the very real demand that is clearly out there. VHS tapes often don't have the copyguard type systems anymore, and the home video release now often makes MORE money for studios than their other distribution systems combined. So, if you want to help the artists out, don't reward the misguided industry efforts. Show them that the NEED is real, until they provide you with a better alternative. Pay when they provide a reasonable way to do so. /soapbox Ray =) Ray Wong PO BOX 6163 negativl at best.com, negativl at rayw.com Hayward, CA 94540-6163 Member #11537, Deborah Gibson International Fan Club Co-Founder and Charter Member, Sutton Foster International Fan Club ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Oct 2002 15:32:32 EDT From: Pixi42@aol.com Subject: [EDA] NJC:live journal Hey angels, I want to get a journal started but it costs money that i dont have to be wasting on such things:) Im not sure but i think some of u might have live journal or somthing like that. it says on livejournal.com that i can sign up for free but i need some code from an existing member.
