It is a simple video for a simple song. They (the director and Jewel) just took the line "Let's just stay / this way in bed" and wove the video around that. All pretty obvious. But there is an intriguing aspect to this video, a piece of very Jewelesque irony -- it may not have been intended but then again it may have been. The basic theme of the song, expressed at the very beginning ( "don't you dare / change a thing") and in the chorus ( "we'll never have to change"), is not an unfamiliar one in Jewel's songs -- "Painters", "You Were Meant For Me", "What's Simple Is True", "Violet Eyes" come immediately to mind -- making time stand still -- "I know that there is something more constant than time" -- the desire for eternity and changelessness. Of course, Jewel has expressed the opposite as well: "Everything's temporary given enough time". And that's the twist I think -- I'd like to think -- Jewel is giving this video. At the end of the chorus she says: "and promise me / say you'll stay / we'll stay / this way". But she's alone. OK, the man does appear at the end, which may be another twist. But for most of the video she is alone. Shades of "You Were Meant For Me".
