arent we all excited?! i am! well, last night (9/18) i saw jewel in santa rosa. so here is the review: first off JASON MRAZ: if you havent seen him yet you better get on it! he is so increadible, i have seen him now twice. last night i got to meet him, and the other band members, and got all their autographs, when they came out after his set to sign things. i said a few words to him and he was very sweet, i told him i saw him last week and how awesome he was, he thanked me and it was a really great moment. my friend and i just stood in a the crowed of people till it was time for jewel cus we didnt want to leave him, he has an amazing vibe and you just want more of it. and i met toca, his drummer, and he asked me my name and i said "alisa" and i shook his hand, and he said "oooooh i loooove that name!", and i was like wow! he loves my name! hahahaha but i didnt do anything stupid like back up into a drinking fountain in front of tons of people, like when i met steve hahahahah now on to JEWEL!!: WOW! again i see another AMAZING jewel show! there is never a moment when you wish you were doing something else when you are at a jewel show, and especially a solo show! so she sang tons of songs. she opened with enter from the east, which was a shock, i havent heard that live since the first time i saw her on the spirit tour in '99. then she did near you always. then she got her signature guitar and asked what we wanted to hear, and i couldnt resist and i had to try for carnivore cus i know she knows it now. so i yelled CARNIVORE! and i didnt think she heard me, so my friends hit me and told me to say it again, so i did. i yelled it like 3 times really loud. then she said "i think i heard someone say carnivore" and i yelled again CARNIVORE! and she said something to the effect of "maybe some personal issues behind this request?" or something like that, but i know she said personal issues, i think, i was in such shock that she was responding to ME! that was one of my all time jewel goals was to request a song and be heard. so ANYWAY! she sang it! and WOW! i realized after the first line that i had requested and recieved the greatest version of carnivore. i think i was like feeling her vibe that night or something, cus she was so into that song. she would throw her head back after the long notes and the crowed loved every moment of it! so then of course she sang tons more songs. i can never get enough of her singing the new wild west solo acoustic live... i freak out every time... i let out a huge scream when she started tuning to "D", cus i knew it was comming. she did an excellent version of hands too, she was doing a lot of that thing she does when she hits her guitar, god i love that! shes been doing it a lot lately, it makes hands sound so increadibly sexy, or any song for that matter, she did it on lots of songs... oh she sang so many songs! i can remember them all, but i dont want to go into super detail on all of them, so ill sum it up.... they were all AMAZING!!! ok.... the STORIES!: she didnt tell as many, maybe only half the amount, that she did on 9/11, but she was in a great mood still. she told an increadibly hilarious version of the mexico story, my friend and i were like chocking and crying. she told the new bob dylan story too. oh and the one about her fake eyelashes which still havent shedded as she puts it. it was hilarious when she was talking about them. she was telling us all the things she has tried to get them off, god shes so funny! oh hmmm oh yes, her VOICE! it has never sounded better than it is right now! the sound at the mountain winery in saratoga is better than the luther burbank center, but all the same jewel sounded stunning. out of this world. when she hits those notes, we know the ones, you just think "oh my god! now that is why i love this woman so much!" and your lungs are sucked dry of all air, and you breath only her voice for those seconds... that is the most amazing feeling, and the chills go all through you. so after the show we waited around for a long time to try and get her autograph but after almost an hour they chased us away, and said she had already left like right after the show, before people were even let out, but we didnt know if they were telling the truth. then they said they would have to call the police if we didnt leave, so we left hahaha. they have really strict security there. the lady wouldnt even give me the pic off the stage! i always get a pic i told her, and i asked her what would happen if i just jumped on the stage and got it, and she said she would have to tackle me to the ground! hahahahah it was hilarious, i could have taken her!!! ANYWAY!!!!!!! IT WAS AN AMAZING NIGHT!!!!!!! I WANT MORE SOLO JEWEL NOW!!!!!! k! im DONE! alisa - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. Howdy y'all, This is my experience at Jewel's concert at the Chastain Memorial Park in Atlanta, Georgia. This was not long ago, during her latest tour. This is kinda long, bear with me: I was already irritated for several reasons; couldn't park ANYWHERE near the show, getting hassled by police, car messing up, bad traffic (two lane road), just getting over bad cold, etc. I had paid $52 for what I had been told was a good seat, in row "L" (near the middle of seats), but what I got was "LL"...in the very bloody back of the seats (next to last row). Then I realized that the event staff were letting people in for a little pocket cash, and sometimes free. I was pissed. I couldn't even see the stage because I'm kinda short, and the people in front were standing up. I decided to move back to the lawn seats (not even 10 feet back), but being higher up, I could see better. After sitting there a while, I heard some event staff guy yelling at people to not smoke, even though we were outside...odd, but I decided to comply and put out my cigarette, and add it to my little pile I was going to throw away. That's when he turned on me. He started staring at me, walked over, and started yelling at me, though I didn't have a cigarette lit. He crossed the line when he said he would personally drag me outta there if I didn't do as told, so I went a little redneck, flipped him off, and proceeded to cussing in retaliation for the name he called me (I was wearing my Confederate EDA shirt, he insulted my flag AND me simultaneously). I had to leave, not because of him, but because I was gonna get jailed for beating the hell outta him. I didn't get to see the show I had paid MORE THAN ENOUGH for, so if I ever go to another show, and this happens again...expect to see all hell break loose. I can't control myself when someone tells me shit like that (ie "drag me outta there personally"). I would hate to have this happen at Jewel's show, but if someone insults me and then threatens me, he's getting his country can of whoop-ass ;) Lee Garner Confederate EDA "...maybe if we are surrounded in beauty, one day we will become what we see..." As you know from your visits to Jewel's Tour Section, her concerts are usually recorded on audio and video, not only for Jewel's personal use, future projects and archival reasons, but also so we can bring you and visitors to the Soul City Cafe site high quality content now and in the future. We hope those of you who've attended shows this year enjoyed yourselves and those of you who couldn't make it still enjoyed it vicariously through the tour photos, audios, videos, etc., that we've featured at both sites. Before we sign off today, there's something that a few of you may be able to help us with. During the solo tour, we had an equipment truck break down and unfortunately, recording equipment was unavailable for four of the solo shows. If you can provide an accurate setlist to one of these four shows for the jeweljk.com setlist page and Jewel's database, we'd appreciate hearing from you. The four shows are: 8/30 Britt Pavillion, Jacksonville, Oregon 9/01 Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver, British Columbia 9/02 Bumbershoot Festival, Seattle, Washington 9/08 Britt Festival, Jacksonville, Oregon If you can help with this, please contact me at MrBB@jeweljk.com.
