My girlfriend and I were watching TV tonight, a SNL rerun on Comedy Central, and guess who the musical guest is.... Jewel, wearing a tight black (leather?) top and close to matching, and very short, skirt... It was the Jewel I like the most... her hair was long and straight, not riled like her latest Jay Leno appearance (replayed Wednesday night), and she looked so much more comfortable on stage (she moved her legs, for instance). Even her hands looked like they had a greater purpose in the performance... Which is ironic given that she performed "Hands" There were perhaps two of those coy corner-of-the-eye glances at the camera. My girlfriend's comment was that "she doesn't look like she's trying to make love to the camera." She seemed so much more like a singer or performer than someone trying to look cute and to sell records... Anyone else watch both shows and have an opinion? The highlights were Avril winning Best New Artist and Michelle winning the Viewer's Choice award! She was in 2nd earlier today so I guess the fans really came through down the stretch. I'm so happy for Avril too, she deserved that award after selling 2 million+ CD's in only 10 weeks. Another unexpected highlight was Guns N Roses (yes, you read that correctly) closing out the show singing a medley of 3 songs. 2 older ones, and a newer one. Axl still has the vocals but has obviously aged quite a bit. The band is all different now except Dizzy on keyboards but they sounded ok. Shakira also had a good performance. This was one of the better awards shows I've seen in awhile. Axl sounded a bit out of key but it has been a while since he has done a live performance plus I think his ear piece was falling out. I think Shakira was one of the better performances wow can she belly dance and I think her butt looks better than J-Los! Anyways, Jimmy Fallon is so funny and I think that his impersanations of all the artist in the begining was hilarious! Did anyone else hear about Sharon Osbourne's cancer?
