The Sioux City crowd was mostly new to Jewel, so I was the only one requesting the obscure stuff. I started off by asking for "Passing Time", and then "Violet Eyes". Later in the show, when I went for "Nicotine Love", she kind of sighed & said, 'You know, I keep promising to learn that one...Nicotine Love...don't I? But I haven't yet. But I did hear someone ask for Passing Time." So I said (from about 9 rows back), "Yeah, that was me." Jewel: "Was that the same person? Where are you...(she shades her eyes from the lights & looks for me as I wave my hand)...Where are you getting this stuff, you little bootlegger!" She went on to say that she actually likes the bootlegs, bec. some of the songs will never end up on albums. She also said that she wishes she could make an album every 3 months & just not have it be such a big deal. There was a lot of the non-album stuff, including a new song. I believe the title would be "Fall", or perhaps "Let Yourself Fall"...she said that no one had heard it except Ty. She also did Everything Breaks, Rosy & Mick, Race Car Driver, Cold Song, Does Anyone Believe In Love Anymore, & Passing Time, of course, along w/ the usual standards. That's about all I can remember of the more rare stuff right now...it's almost 3 am & I've been up since 7 am yesterday, not to mention driving 400 miles. I'll be at the Des Moines show in about 17 hours...a big guy w/ a red goatee, dressed all in black, in row A. That'll be me. That'll be the last show for me this summer. It's been a 12 concert year so far (4 Jewel, 4 Patty Griffin, 3 Poltz, 1 Ani). More stuff coming up later in the fall, I think, but right now my wallet needs a break.
