We were all snug up against each other as if we were one body and all of the sudden the new version of "This Way" came on. It was terribly awkward. At least it's getting play in theatres. I listened to all their CDs and eh. I just.. Do not like them. :shrugs: To me, it is really annoying to see half of the posts on the Jewel mailing list being about Avril / Vanessa / Michelle. I do love Jewel, Fiona, etc. as well. I just don't think these three newer girls are nearly as original as everyone tries to make them out to be.:) But that is simply my opinion, and I don't give it often, so please, any of the A/V/M fans, don't jump down my throat. Most of the A/V/M fans on the AOL Message boards are really mean about other peoples opinions. Even if you give it nice and maturely.:) heh. To each his or her own. Loves and kisses to all!! I was really fed up with the popular music scene at that time. Noone was putting out music that appealed to me. Then I caught an atricle in my dautghters Seventeen magazine with the normal Alaska-homestead-nowater-lived-in-a-van bio. I was ingtrigued and bought Pieces of You and have been hooked ever since. I've always had a weakness for the "new kid" and always give them a chance. You never know what will come of it. Like I've said may times, "You don't choose the music, the music chooses you". What I'm trying to say is that if it wasn't for people giving a chance to an naive, unpolished singer with more guts than talent (not that she's untalented) then Jewel wouldn't be where she is today. I loved the fact that she had problems playing guitar and was still developing her voice. Her lyrics and melodies were awkward, but the honesty and passion she put into them made up for any flaws. So, lets give the new kids like Avril some time. You never know what kind of surprises you'll get. Remember, not many people thought Jewel had what it took, either. BTW, I'm bucking for oldest EDA at 52. Anyone older? I was on the list before JewelStock (unfortunately, I was still in high school at the time and could not make the trip up there). As for Avril/Michelle/Vanessa, I've already given my opinion. I must add (to be fair) that even though I said I have all their CDs and I do like all three of them, I do not keep up with their careers as much as I do Jewel's or Tori's. I was pretty shocked to see Avril on I think it was one of the Disney channels giving a teen something special concert. Don't get me wrong, I've always been for making loads of money and promoting artists in any way possible. To me there's no such thing as selling out if the artist is okay with it themselves. Anyway, I just thought Avril wanted to stay away from the teenies. It's all good though, she's still my favorite out of the new three. Maybe we can put our favorite artists in categories. Hi I was reading on one of the girl from M2M's website, that Atlantic made them leave the tour before it was over. My question is, why the heck didn't Jewel step up and say, "guess what, they're aren't leaving the tour". She could have easily made a call or two and say if they leave so do I. I'm just wondering why she let them leave the tour, yet they were headling Soul City Cafe, which she believes in so much. And by the way, both m2m and Jewel need to get the hell off that label. The following article was printed in yesterday's London Evening Standard newspaper, but I've not seen it anywhere else, just wondered if it's old news or something the US papers haven't printed yet? - ---------- Singer Jewel settles #6m dispute Singer Jewel has settled a $10 million (#6 million) feud with a former manager only hours before the case reached court. Inga Vainshtein had filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles against Jewel, pictured, and her mother, Lenedra Carroll, in 1998 alleging breach of contract after Vainshtein was fired for not having an agent's licence. Vainshtein discovered Jewel in 1993 when she was performing at a cafi in San Diego.
