First of all I wanna tell you something very stupid i did, I was writing an email to someone and Jewel came on in my room, and my vcr is in the living room and um..i have wooden floors...and i was recording it and i was running to the living room to push record and im wearing socks...lol..cause you know i didn't wanna miss it and...i kinda...slipped...and now my arm hurts really bad lol....im SUCH a klutz but anyway about the show!!!!!! Singer, Songwriter, Poet, Actress JEWEL hehe I love when they say that!!!!! O i loved the interview and Jewels hidden talent!!!!!!!! LOL that was sooo funny! Jewel looked sooo pretty, I love the long interview too!!!!! and they put the part of the break me video in there! and the performance was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Jewel did sooo great she looked sooo small next to Craig lol...! Aw i love watching Jewel on tv...I love her look now, she looks sooo pretty and when she said "this way in bed" or whatever and she smiled, my mom was like she sings like a little girl lol..Anyway that was so awesome i loved it!! ps-my arm still hurts the angel that is jewels number *1* fan hehe! ~Michele I love Jewel!!! Request "this way" on radio stations!!!!! I'm easy to deal with, but I respond extremely poorly to being shouted at. I appreciate subtlety. If someone has to be obvious to me, it really offends my pride. The subtext is they think that I'm stupid. ~Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Aug 2002 05:45:48 +0000 From: "charlie zidon" Subject: [EDA] This Way/Appearence Hey all angels! There are a couple things that I would like to say in this letter. First of all, Jewel did an AWESOME job on kilbourne tonight! She was real sexy, and I LOVED the thing she did with her eye! haha! It was sooooo funny! I really think that she has high hopes for this song. I think the reason she did it after break me is taht she likes break me more, but she didn't know if it would do well, and she has an idea this one would do well, so it was her back up... I don't know.. Just an idea. It seems she really is going to try for this one to take off. Right now it was just sent to radio stations around here and is getting airplay! So we'll see how it goes... I think it is the 2002 YWMFM! ALSO I wanted to say, for all of you who like to talk about how jewel is looking as compared to the past.. WEll I just gotta say this is the BEST she has EVER looked! Her body is just damn perfect (though i liked her a lil more chubby, well she was never chubbie, but you know what i mean) and she is casually dressed, and not too much makeup and just simple COMBED hair!! She is just natural AND SOOOOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL! This look is sooooooo right for her and geuss what.. it is just HER!!! She is looking sooooooo good, and less made up... GO JEWEL! haha! I think since Jewel has said that she is sad that the band tour is over, and how she loves everyone in the band and stuff, that she should do a fall tour after taking a break once the solo tour is done. Maybe a breif, 20-date tour in October and November, revisit some places, like Milwaukee, Chicago, New York, etc., and then hit some places that didn't get a show. What do you guys think. And hey, if that want more people to tour with her for Clearwater project, I'll go!!! How did they get those jobs anyways??? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Aug 2002 02:04:54 -0400 From: "Scott" Subject: [EDA] Kilborn: Interview = good, performance = baaad. I know any Jewel appearance on Kilborn is worth the time for the interview. They seem to be really good friends, and he brings out a side in her that was only showed in interviews with people like Jon Stewart and, at times, Rosie O'Donnell.. The lower eyelid twitching hidden talent of hers is FREAKY. Honestly, I've never seen anyone do that before! Ok, on to the song. I don't like it acoustic, I think it's completely a radio-production-value song. And I didn't like her performance. She never let loose. She crumbled under the weight of that last note, and it wasn't pretty. And anyway, I know it's the single, but is Kilborn's normal audience of college students up at 1 in the morning really going to be moved enough by the song to buy the album? I don't think so. Late-late-night programming is the time for Jewel to take chances. She was hot, though. ;-) scott.evans [[mind is DISCONNECTED. but my heart is WIRED.]] AOL IM: sevans112 . Yahoo! And I just found out tonight after watching Kilborn that Jewel's latest CD is platinum...had no idea. Anyone know when it reached that mark? I don't recall it being announced. I think it's pretty cool they were comparing the new crop of artists to people like Fiona and Jewel. I think some of that is true, but the newer stuff is edgier and more rock than they are/were. Fiona did touch on some edgier songs too though, so she's sort of a little of both. I don't think teen pop will totally die though...maybe the boy band thing, but not people like Britney. Mandy has already turned her image around, so that mention of her is really outdated. She's never been one either to show her belly often, or dress sexual, not like Britney and Christina. But I guess they were just grouping all them together since they came out around the same time. I can't wait for Christina's new CD....it's sure been long enough. I think the sound will be much different from what many are expecting. There's a reason she's waited 3 years for the new album, and I'm sure it'll be evident in the sound. Thanks for sending that article. _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Aug 2002 01:00:04 -0600 From: "Stacey Hamilton" Subject: Re: [EDA] jewel made a good point on leno What you're addressing though is entirely different from Jewel's comment stating there was only ONE type of music being played on the radio. Independent bands have never been played on major stations...that's nothing new...and it'll probably always be that way. So I was addressing what was written about what Jewel said, not the fact that there are playlists at major radio stations...which is true for the most part (for their corresponding format), yet not the same as stating there's only "one type of music being played". >You're missing the point here. > >Sure, there's a rock station, and a rap station, and a country station. >But the problem is the rock station in Houston is playing the same 40 >songs as the rock station in Boston and the one in Portland. > >When was the last time you heard a local band or an independent band on >the radio? > >Clear Channel sucks. Actually Michelle's first CD (the indie one) would fit perfectly with the old Lilith format. And Avril's song entitled "Why" found as a b-side on the Aussie single release for Complicated sounds alot like that too. It's just her singing along with one acoustic guitar, exactly like what we saw tonight on Kilborn with Jewel. Vanessa is pretty much already there, quite similar to Paula and Fiona, and she has a fantastic live sound. I really think there could be another Lilith Tour again with these new srtists incorporated into the line up along with a few of the older ones...also with people like Alicia as well. I think it's just a matter of time before some promoter realizes this and seizes that opportuinity. It would definitely be a great money making tour, probably one of the better tours of the past couple years. - ------------------- >From: Shawn E Williams >great article! i had said most of this a few days ago. i'm glad i wasn't >the only one who noticed it. i think Michelle, Vanessa, and Avril will be >up to the lilith level. i think Vanessa already is. So I was hoping outa the goodness of your heart.... :o) I don't care where or when the concert was so long is it is from This Way. I know this topic was earlier in the week, but I am not online regularly. 9/11- This is my birthday and for that sole reason that would be wondeiferous to go to a Jewel concert on that day. It was a terrible thing that happened. It struck a chord here in Australia too. I know that for some it will be hard to mend for a time yet, but I think that it is great for Jewel and I hope many Americans in general to start to rebuild and continue pre September 11. Be strong!.
