Its > vioaltion of their codes. WHats with the 25.00 per idea entry fee???? It seems rather simple to me. I'm nearly sure (I have NO inside information here, just put together a logical explanation) that it's to ensure they get serious entries only and not flooded with thousands of ideas/entries. They would not want to get 10,000 (they DID announce this via the JeweLink, which has over 35,000 people on it.) They want entries from truly aspiring and "talented yet-to-be-established filmmakers" as the JeweLink said. This is of course to DIRECT the video, not just have your idea accepted like the "write Jewel's new video" contest they had on the EDA list a few years back. That contest was just for the concept of the video, this one is much more serious and for the whole ball of wax. Anyone qualified to actually direct a professional video should easily be able to send in the 25$ entry fee. If they cannot then they are likely in the wrong business, "starving artist" or not. Thus, by having a 25$ entry fee they won't get nearly as many casual entries, many of which would be by people not even remotely qualified to fully conceive and DIRECT the video. Heck, we had 129 entries alone on the EDA list when the "write Jewel's next video" contest occurred (it was for Down So Long, and they did not choose any of the submitted ideas). Without the fee I am certain they'd literally get thousands of entries ...and assuming Jewel herself might actually read all of the entries, I am also certain she would not have the time nor energy to read a few thousand. A few dozen or a hundred or so is likely more what they are looking for. While I know you did not ask this, as for what happens to the $25 from each entry, I have no idea. I would guess it would go to a charity. I have no idea why you would have to pay a fee to submit your idea. I know there are some places that make you pay to submit your idea, but those aren't Legit. I know as an actor agents can NOT charge you a fee upfront to represent you or even for an interview. Also, I'm kinda upset that you have to have past work to submit. I'm an actor and director, but I've only directed theater not film. So I have nothing to submit and I don't want to waste $25 if I don't have a chance because I don't have a demo. I think that sucks, because I have good Ideas too!! As for the East Coast I AGREEE!!!!!!!!!! I live in Pittsburgh, so I just got to see her in June, but even she said at the show she was surprised to see so many people at the show since she hadn't been in Pittsburgh for over 4 years. That is a long time (and longer for some other East Coasters). I also notice that she performs somewhere in California like every month. I think she should bring her solo tour to the east, since now it is all in the west or mid west. I miss her solo stuff. ( don't get me wrong I love her rock stuff, but I like her solo stuff too) Just my opinion.
