And it's been announced she would be playing with her band, as in the tour band. And yeah, Jay screwed up...that wasn't a joke. And I'm sure he heard about it from Jewel after that too. Anyway, nice performance considering the song is weak anyway, they managed to do alright though. And she looked nice as well, albeit a bit on the casual side. The interview I thought was rather long actually, and unexpected. To ask for anything more than that is being rather stingy I think. Most artists don't even get that much unless they're Madonna, Cher, or Paul McCartney. >From: DixieJewelAngel@aol.com >To: jewel@smoe.org > >I thought that was poltz too but it wasn't! > > _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jul 2002 02:19:15 EDT From: WiddleyPud@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Any record the Houston show? It looked like every little smile and coy glance was for the camera. Old skool Jewel it looked like she used to sing with her heart and for her music. I mean it looked like she was posing for a music video or a photo shoot. Her guitarist on the right looked more into than she did. I also thought that the interview was painful to watch, she wasn't interesting!! Even the crowd figured that out and didn't even applaud loudly it felt like they were just sitting their waiting for it to be over. I still believe that Jewel's music got me through such a hard period in my life, but I think I am losing it for the person Jewel. I used to defend Jewel to no ends and around me you couldn't say anything wrong about her, but now i just don't know. Chandini The confused Angel ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jul 2002 05:23:58 EDT From: JewelWilcher@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel on leno was bad Hello EDAs, I'll go ahead and be one of the ones that defends Jewel to no end. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno isn't a place you have to "get into the music." It's a 1 song appearance for the purpose of promoting and advertising the album. If it looked like it was for the cameras, that's because it was. Appearances on shows like that are basically commercials. I also disagree that the interview was uninteresting. It may only be so to EDAs and other fans that follow Jewel closely, but the majority of Tonight Show viewers have not heard about the horse incident that may be old news to us. In fact, Jewel didn't bring it up, Jay asked. It's always hard for the musicians on the Tonight Show to have a decent interview because of lack of time anyway. Most of their time is used up for the performance. OR...maybe I'm missing the point. Maybe Jewel's just being her...maybe she just didn't feel like it tonight...maybe it's all getting old to HER too. Anyway...Go Jewel, do whatcha' gotta do to survive...promote it, mix it, advertise it, plug it, whatever it takes...gotta compete with the other pop stars at their own game. Jewel's a smart girl, she knows what it takes to survive...she's gotta act like a rock star! Sorry for all the blah blah blah if ya made it this far.
