I think they're tougher on the guys, because I saw a lot of men getting checked, including my friend... they didn't check any of the females I was with. And another thing, although I could have easily gotten the camera, etc. in, using it would have been impossibe since the security was tough about it. It may be different at other venues though... and hiding the recording equipment while using it could be easier than hiding a camera (flash). =) Lindsay - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eric L." MrBB or Mike, anyone really- Has every tour date been announced? I'm really depressed that Jewel isn't coming to North Carolina at all this year, yet she plays California like 34 times. I know she can't go to all 50 states each year, but she has always come here. - -katie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Jun 2002 18:50:21 EDT From: Softballchica88@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Frisking well i just went 2 the pittsburgh show and they searched us. My aunt had a huge purse w/ newspapers and stuff and she hid or cameras. The guy infront of me had 2 lift up his shirt and he got patted down and they searched his backpack and took his camcorder, but if your good at hiding it, go for it, the show is awsome. I especially liked the backdrop and the flashing lights 2 the beat of the music. To think that I've run Planet Jewel for 4 years, and I haven't seen her live once. Alan said no more dates are planned for the year. I was going to make it my first this year, but since we're getting snubbed, I guess not. =( It's pretty ridiculous to not come to NC.. Charlotte is one of the biggest cities in the region (and country, for that matter), and the local station gave Jewel some of the best airplay during SS.. One of the first to pick up on it, and one of the heaviest players.. Pretty stupid to not come here.. But whatever.. An article about the interview: http://www.npr.org/programs/morning/features/2002/jul/jewel/index.html You can also check the website for a local station.. It says the audio from the interview will be available on the website at noon ET tomorrow... anyone know if you have to pay for that? - -------------------- I have an extra set of (2) tickets to the Sunday, July 14th showing of Jewel at Chicago Theatre. SECTION MNFL4L, ROW M, SEATS 417 TO 419... These are actually decent seats, but I've got 5th row tickets... It was an inane comment because obviously a person's sexual orientation is not immediately distinguishable based on just appearance. I think what I meant to say was that I didn't notice too many gay couples at the concert. I think that's a fair statement - I've been to other concerts where there have been a lot of gay couples (eg - Bjork). I think it's fairly easy to tell when two people are romantically involved, whether they're gay or straight. Not that it matters in any respect. Sexual orientation is pretty much a non-issue with me. I just didn't want anybody to be offended by what I said - I realise that it was a rather silly thing to say... and I didn't mean it the way it sounded. I think the main thing I've noticed at all the Jewel related events I've been to is what a diverse and interesting fanbase she has. There were a few young kids (though not as many one might imagine), a few teens, a LOT of people in their 20's and 30's, quite a few people in their 40's.. and a few people who seemed older. There were equal parts men and women (one of the most untrue stereotypes of jewel fans is that they're predominantly female). I think Jewel is lucky to have such a diverse group of fans. And I think we're lucky to be part of that cause we meet such a diverse group of people. My name is Juliannne- one of the founders of Jewel list back in '94 gave me the coolest things- if any of you remember please email me. It is so kick ass, has drawing by her and all!- he also gave me postcards that were on the table at the Innnerchange Coffeehouse- on the front is the POY album cover, and on the back is a questionare with a return address to Atlantic Records- Jewel gave him, in person, all of these things, WAY back in the day....Regardless, if anybody wants copies of anything, let me know (especially the booklet, it is AWESOME for your scrapbook)- Let me know, I love giving treats to angels. and guys another thing- PLEASE check out Shakira- I swear you will NOT be dissapointed- she is very talented- thanks for your time, and please all of you forgive Charlie about his original 'gay' comment, and forget about it! sex should NOT be a topic- interesting, but still- free fucking speech. don't take what he said sos serious, i know him and he is not like that! you angels email me if you would like anything, Juliannne, the envious angel www.geocities.com/jkangelfood Sign-up for Video Highlights of 2002 FIFA World Cup ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Jun 2002 20:38:51 -0700 From: "Jewel Worshiper" Subject: [EDA] this way tour banner hey... does anyone know where i can get the this way tour banner?
