I've seen quite a few now and they've all been limited to around 2 minutes it seems. I think Jewel's Standing Still was cut short also. I can't stand this. Then when they do let them play a 2nd song, it always gets cut off by the closing credits like anywhere from around 30 seconds into the song, to as little as 5 seconds. I just don't know why they give the celebrity before the musical guest like 20-25 minutes, and then barely fit in the musical guests. At least Leno and Letterman let them play one entire song, even if they don't do an interview. Has anyone else noticed this about the Regis show? _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002 19:42:36 -0400 From: Rebecca Boyer Subject: AND kelly! Britney Spears goes up onstage and dresses like a showgirl. She's not being herself up there because she's dancing like a ho. Is she ho? She says she's a virgin. Y'know, it's just not clicking. She's doing one thing and saying another thing, y'know? Hey Well, I knew the prospect of getting a few full length high quality mp3s of the tour from the website was too good to be true. Now they're just giving us clips. That's a shame. Although, it's nice to hear the clips. The new arrangement of Absence of Fear sounds quite nice. Oh, and they've updated those cover songs in the Tour Diary, and Setlists sections. Now it's two songs that I recognize, but I can't think of a name. Anyone know? I hope they keep doing this. It's very humorous. Jewel has *just* started strumming again during her solo time on stage, which is probably one of the reasons why she's mixing and varying her setlist more than she did in Europe. It's also what people are *requesting* that makes a difference in what she's playing when she's on stage alone. It has nothing to do with which of her fans are more important to her at all...I'm sure she considers each and every fan of equal importance regardless of where they're from. >it is just something i thought i strange , that jewel starts to play rare sons >in the usa and that fans in europe haven4t heard those songs...... I don't find it strange at all. Most fans of Jewel are only familiar with her albums, not with her unreleased music as many of us are. This list has a majority of US subscribers, therefore, in the same context, you can assume since she has far more US fans, that they're far more likely in turn to know her unreleased stuff. She's trying to promote her album more in Europe as well, as it hasn't sold all that well there, and once she starts hearing requests for songs she hasn't been playing, she has to either re-learn them herself, or practise them with the band...so of course since she started her European tour first, it's only logical that since the US came after, and she's had the chance to get an idea of what the fans want to hear, that's she's playing more of her older songs. >the sound clips they share with us on her official website are nice!!! i only >want to ask why the band even seems more professional sounded than they >performed in europe >i have the feeling that they play more professional in the usa...for example >ennss sounds so much more cooler at the usa gigs than in europe >how come?? More than likely this is simply because as time goes on, Jewel and her band because more comfortable playing together, and the more than play each song, the more practise they have, and the better they get at it. It's not some huge conspiracy against her European fans or something.... it's just natural that since they were new band members, they get better as time goes on and they play with Jewel more. ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002 19:57:15 EDT From: Softballchica88@aol.com Subject: [EDA] EDA hey everyone! I think it had some really nice rare songs. Vancouver, BC, CA, WA, NV, OR, UT, ND, MN, ID, WY, etc. With the most "eastern" being Minnesota. So if you live anywhere in the southern or eastern part of the US, the odds of you getting to see her solo are probably slim to none, unfortunately. Seems like Atlantic is targeting markets they normally don't for a full band tour. With the exception of a few dates, most are in places many bands never see on a larger scale tour. Places that get overlooked often, for whatever reason. So maybe this is why they're going back and "picking up" a few extra cities at the end, but without the band since that would cost more money, and take more resources and time. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002 21:12:33 -0300 From: "FabioJJ" Subject: Re: [EDA] Oh well... The lovely singer-songwriter told LAUNCH her support of up-and-coming talent doesn't stop after the summer. "We're running a contest later in the year where bands can submit all their tapes, and me and some of my peers will be sort of be aboard and we'll select tapes that will win," she said. "We're working with colleges that will be giving us their best film students, and they will make music videos for them. And we're working with radio stations so that they'll start programming on the Internet websites of cool underground acts and things like that." Details of the contest as far as when it will be held and how bands can submit material were not available at press time. Jewel's next Soul City Cafe date is July 3 in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Other shows are slated for July 7 in Cleveland, July 19 in Grand Prairie (Texas), July 26 in Los Angeles, and July 28 in San Diego. - -- Darren Davis, New York + http://www.jewel.com.br | Fa-clube Jewel Brasil + + http://www.geocities.com/fabiojj/sarahlink | Sarah McLachlan + + http://www2.allaccess.com/sounds/jewelbre.ram | Break Me + ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002 22:57:22 -0300 From: "FabioJJ" Subject: [EDA] KFMB I found out that this station is already playing This Way: KFMB - San Diego TW: Jun 20 - Jun 26 spins by daypart TW lw +/- ovn am mid pm eve 13 0 13 4 1 4 0 4 Fabio + http://www.jewel.com.br | Fa-clube Jewel Brasil + + http://www.geocities.com/fabiojj/sarahlink | Sarah McLachlan + + http://www2.allaccess.com/sounds/jewelbre.ram | Break Me + ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002 22:05:54 -0400 From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] acoustic shows To that girl who posted that Jewel "only" tours acoustic in California... uhhh... you're WRONG. Look at the dates. She's playing all up and down the west coast. Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and yes, California. Hell, she's even playing a date in Vancouver, Canada! I wouldn't be surprised if she added some east coast shows in October or November. She actually seems to be spending most of her time at her other "home" in Texas... so I think the reason for playing a lot of shows in California is simply that there's a lot of beautiful venues there... small outdoor theatres at various wineries ideal for intimate acoustic concerts. I think the reason for playing all those states on the acoustic tour is that she's missing them out on the regular tour. She's covered the east coast pretty well on the band tour (except for North Carolina -sorry Scott!)... so she's just going to places she hasn't been. But maybe she'll play acoustically on the east coast. You never know. However, saying that she only plays acoustically in California is just plain wrong.
