OK.. I know this is a little late... but I needed some recovery time from my weekend... I must tell you I had not even intended on making the Tampa Show until Thursday afternoon.. and I am so glad I did... being at the opening night of Jewel's American Tour of "This Way"... is a memory I will never forget... I would like to thank Mac.. an EDA in Florida... who graciously helped me get better seats than I was able to purchase last minute... I already had $140.. bucks in the two sets of tickets I had purchased...but thanks to Mac I was able to sit 6 row center... and it was unbelievable... definitely worth it... I donated my extra tickets back to the Will Call booth... they assured me they would give them away free... hopefully someone got better seats than they expected... If at all possible.. get out to a concert nearest you because this is likely to be the Best Tour EVER!!!!! This show had so much ENERGY!!! The entire time she was on stage was so very INTENSE.... It was the best I had ever seen her perform... It was the total Rocker Chic Jewel... almost the entire show was a rock concert and you could tell she was loving it... not to mention the band was having a lot of fun too... T-Bone was totally loving the spotlight with his bass solo... and Mark Oakley is definitely pleasing to the eyes on stage... a total cutie... love it when he smiles... Jewel got the entire theater off their butts and standing for almost the entire second half of the show... UNBELIEVABLE!!! I can't wait for my next show.... Jewel really is a sweetie... she came out after the show and greeted her fans and signed stuff... She really does care about us.. or she would not have gone to so much trouble... I was pretty proud... She signed my Astros Cap... definitely worth my spontaneous trip to Tampa... If you guys get the same opportunity... please be respectful of her and other fans... there were a couple of freaks who were very irritating... one guy was standing there running his mouth.. "do you remember when..." "why didn't you do this..." "you messed up on..." etc... I wished she had told him to go away... but she was like "yea" "uhuhhh" and then another guy was getting back in line and getting everything he owned signed... What a weekend... I wished I had it all on film so I could relive and share it with you all... but I guess some things are left better as memories... Shade: I missed them, i was in the bar drinking some Heinies and smoking...cigarretes and....sightseeing...:) Dustin Fox: his poetry is awesome, the way he spoke was passionate. M2M: I'm sorry, but those girls are talented. I just turned 29 and I know the difference between a fabricated act and a real one...these girls are for real and of course, they write and sing about their reality, they're teens and fun. No Rebeca Reed...she wasn't there . Now Jewel: She wore a jean mini, a parrot green tank and black pointy boots..she looked hot and is the thinnest I've seen her ever.. she sang (not in this order, I really get into the music and forget :) : I won't walk away, life uncomon,Mick and Rosy (I think that's the name),'til we run out of road, break me, serve the ego, YWMFM,LMJLMA,WWSYS,angel standing by,near you always, the other woman, standing still, and another jazz song that I don't remember the name..and probably I forgot a song or 2..wait for the set list she sang great, though you can tell she's not 100% she didn't move a lot, nor danced a lot, she read poetry too, someone gave her a letter on sound check and she acknowledge that and read the poem he wanted , that was cool. She was super funny as usual and down to earth...though the Center where she plays is very strict and dont let anyone get close to her and stand up, she didn't encourage that either, like she usually tells people to stand up and get closer...the crowd was good, it was all the seats were full and they were very respectful, no assholes screaming and yelling shit.. At one point she just told everyone that it wasn't a church , get up and live a little..I was doing that already:) it was great..my boyfriend who had never seen her got so into her that he wanted to go the next day to Orlando..we almost did,. but the money ...God, I hate been poor.. bills to pay, addictions to feed..., but we almost went. I was the one who said no, we could've but we shouldn't ....we are going to save a little and catch her and a nice little vacacion in the Wine Country, so we can see her solo in Santa Rosa... that's better and I have something to look foward to... well, I hope everyone gets to see her this summer...there's noone like her and there will never bee someone like her. she's the best! take care Uri ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jun 2002 21:22:05 -0400 From: "Shannon Mackie" Subject: [EDA] NJC: avril/michelle I, for one, am NOT tired of hearing about Avril and Michelle. First off, yes, this is a Jewel list, but we also discuss common interests. I like to see us as a community who can talk about things like that. And for the record, it's called using the "NJC" in the subject line. Anytime, sweetie ;-) Haizee ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jun 2002 21:25:06 -0400 From: "Shannon Mackie" Subject: [EDA] Upper Darby Show/Recording Concerts I can't wait until I get to see Jewel for the first time!!! It's 9 days away! Anyone else who's going - do you want to meet up or something? We can all wear blue ribbons. I will be wearing angel wings, personally. Also, I know this was addressed before, but I didn't hear the answer. What's the deal with recording Jewel? I know she doesn't care but how do you get it past security? I do NOT want to be arrested on the best night of my life. Most sites aren't THAT thorough.. ;-) If I had a recorder, I could've gotten it into every concert I've ever been to.. The venues I've been to have had varying levels of security, but if you make it not obvious that you have it, they won't see it.. Wear loose clothing.. And make sure the guards don't see it during the show.. And if you get caught, you definitely won't get arrested.. Anyway...yeah....they got some pretty close shots of more than I'm sure alot of people really wanted see....although i thought it was pretty funny myself. not sure if she had on anything under or not, but my guess would be "no". nonetheless, it was a great performance. if she knew about that occuring, i guess it didn't bother her...and for some reason, i didn't think it would anyway. >From: "heartbroken 4LiFe" >To: Jewel@smoe.org >Subject: [EDA] NJC: Avril on MuchMusic awards >Date: Sun, 16 Jun 2002 17:13:27 -0700 > >hey! > >for those of you who don't already know... And you don't have to be sorry about bringing up anything...and we aren't all tired of hearing about good artists...I know I'm sure not! I'd much rather discuss things like this than people telling us how much they love Jewel for the upteenth time...haha. I mean we all KNOW you love Jewel or you wouldn't be here...it's fun and interesting to talk about other things though. And you're right...alot of the reasons they sound the way they do now is from the time they came into the scene. Even though Fiona wasn't that raw, and Jewel really wasn't either with her first real studio CD (PoY wasn't), I do see what you're talking about. And yes, Michelle Branch does sound alot more raw when seeing her live. Vanessa is very good also. I haven't seen Avril live yet, but I can bet she'll be just the same as they are...as in more raw. No one actually went "on stage" though. I remember once she hugged a small girl (maybe ten) with a cute homemade "#1 Jewel Fan" shirt. Also, during the bass solo on WWSYS, she sat on the edge of the stage, nodding and rocking in time with the music. Oh and also to get the poetry book which she signed when she gave back. LOL And you won't get arrested. I've never gotten caught once. And about cameras...most venues will say they aren't allowed, but MANY, even the tighter security ones will still allow the disposable kind. As long as you don't have some huge zoom lens you should be ok, unless you're like taking a picture every 5 seconds from the front row, that could get a bit distracting to the artist. Be smart about it. Fortunately recorders aren't visible, so it's alot less likely you'll get caught with something like that. Just leave it on the floor, that's what I do most of the time, unless there's an empty seat next to me. And the worst part is just walking into the venue....it's a bit uncomfortable but once you're in then the coast is clear and you can just stick it in one of your pockets the rest of the time. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jun 2002 20:59:13 -0700 From: "maria cristina silud sitoy" Subject: [EDA] M2M plus JEWEL hello everyone, peace!!! I'm an EDA from philippines.I visited the soulcitycafe.com and man! it'awesome and very inspiring. what really made me feel very courageous to surf around is the M2M being the headliners of JEWEL's concert.I can't believe it. M2M was in the Philippines last year and had a successful concert. The two young ladies are popular down here and have already won the hearts of filipinos. Why JEWEL can't be here in Philippines? I guess that must be great also like M2M had done. They have the same approached when it comes to their songs. M2M has songs rendered in accoustic style.Gals out there, please let me know how the concert goes on with these artists. thanks a lot!!!! GOD Bless everyone.
