I don't remember what my scores were, but I beat both of them. I'm wondering though, has anyone else tried to do the Blenders? Its where theres a picture of a certain famous person and it gets mixed up and you put it together like a puzzle. I've done the Star Wars one and Jewel, and I think that Star Wars is much easier, for me anyway. The Jewel one has her pictures from the This Way CD booklet, so thats pretty cool. I agree alot with Mr. Moon. (what's your name anyway?) Avril is pretty amazing and there is definitely alot of variety on the CD. I also like Unwanted and wish too that there was more songs like that one, but Losing My Grip is pretty good too....it gets pretty heavy about 1/2 way into it. There are alot of great hooks on the CD and if you don't go away constantly humming at least 5 or 6 songs over and over again then somethings wrong. I tend to like Complicated a little more than it seems Mr. Moon does, but at first I wasn't as enthused about it. It's kind of grown on me though, also after seeing her play it live on TV twice now. Seeing her put the emotion behind it really adds more to the song. About Lennon...I've actually heard of her before and have heard a few songs from audiogalaxy. My Beautiful is most definitely an amazing song too...I have to agree. She's alot heavier than the current "TRL" type bands that's for sure, but she's also very talented. Plays piano, guitar, and sings. Great voice. She actually placed runner up in a Lilith Fair contest back in 1999 I think it was, Ginny Owens ended up winning. It was the one they had in TN...which is where Lennon is from. Stacey - ------------------------- >Well Avril Lavigne is one of the more exciting artists I discovered so >far this year. (There'll be U.S. shows at later dates.) Below is the announcement of the 'Crying in a Rainstorm' Tour that's been sent to Alley's mail list. If you happen to be along our tour route somewhere, we'd love to meet you ( : Thanks for reading and listening! peace, Adrian (the island-in-the-Pacific-angel) Allison Crowe's 'Crying In a Rainstorm' Tour is now ready for launch. Here's the way Allison Crowe was introduced to fans of multi-platinum recording artist and entertainer Jewel - when Allison was chosen to be featured guest artist on Jewel's official site in April of this year: "Beautifully moody or riotously rocking, Allison Crowe creates piano-based music of transcendent quality. A 20 year old singer/songwriter based in British Columbia, her voice, poetic and haunting, is a modern original. Allison is reaching new audiences this year with her debut album, 'midnight syren.' She's been called 'a mega-talent in the making' and her music is a testament to the power of the human voice and spirit." And this is how Allison is billed in Victoria's Jazzfest International 2002 guide: "Described as 'the next big thing to come from Vancouver Island,' singer-pianist Allison Crowe is definitely a phenomenon in the making. Crowe is a certified poet whose rich, powerful voice shows the influences of everyone from Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan to Janis Joplin and even Nina Simone. Born and raised in Nanaimo, Crowe is a classically trained pianist who has gradually created her own special blend of jazz, folk, rock and blues. She will appear with longtime bandmates Dave Baird (bass) and Kevin Clevette (drums)." This summer, the 'Crying in a Rainstorm" Tour will introduce Allison Crowe, in concert, to music-loving people across the country. Encompassing 24 days, the tour, which features 17 performances in 15 different Canadian cities and spans six provinces, will kick off with a pair of shows in Allison's hometown of Nanaimo, BC and travel eastward as far as Montreal, QE before circling back. The intinerary of Allison and her band-mates, Dave and Kevin, presents an unique range of, (mostly all-ages), showcases. Venues selected for this inaugural national tour include soft-seat theatres, coffeehouses, nightclubs, restaurant/bistros, a baseball stadium, a youth centre, an art gallery, and festivals from jazz to folk and rock/alternative. Adding further dimension to the quality of these shows is the participation of original talent from different regions of Canada as support acts. Joining Allison's trio on most dates will be Terra Grimard, a vocalist/pianist from Kamloops, B.C. Terra, the first recipient of a scholarship from the Women Rock foundation in Vancouver, creates pop/rock sounds with jazz undertones. For several west coast dates, the lineup will be enhanced by Lori-Anne Jackson, a singer-songwriter who's just returned to B.C. from studies at Montreal's McGill University. Lori-Anne's guitar and piano based writings place her in the stylistic company of such acts as Canada's Emm Gryner. In Alberta, acoustic musician greg snell (guitar/vocals) joins the bill, along with bassist stan dorsett - appealing to Pearl Jam and heartland music fans alike. And, for Toronto's Rivoli show, the soulful Tanisha Taitt will bring her melodies and lyrics to the stage, backed by her groovily ambient piano/guitar/drums combo. Other artists will make special appearances in different locations. More details on all of these shows will be posted soon on Allison's website @ allisoncrowe.com (And there's fresh word upcoming on Allison's "Midnight" video, her "Midnight Syren" album, and future activities.) I agree I'm less than impressed with the recent promotion Atlantic has provided... but that's mainly because Jewel hasn't done that well. Break Me was a huge flop. How much this has to do with Atlantic and how much it has to do with the musical climate right now, we'll probably never know... but I think there are a few things we have to remember, and give Atlantic credit for. First is the fact that they released Pieces of You at all. Most major labels would never consider releasing an album like Pieces of You from a new talent, much less encourage the style. If I remember correctly, it was Atlantic's idea to have the album recorded mostly live. Many of Jewel's contemporaries (Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton etc etc) have released debut albums full of slick production, as opposed to the raw production of Pieces of You. I think Atlantic deserve credit for letting Jewel be who she was. I also think they deserve credit for sticking with the album for as long as they did. They saw the potential and it eventually paid off bigtime. And let's not forget, Atlantic were the ones that guided Pieces of You to eventually selling 13 million copies worldwide. That's nothing to be sneezed at. They also did a good job with the initial release of This Way. I think we have to recognize that there are other factors apart from a record company that play a part in the success of an artist, or the success of a single. The musical climate right now is very against Jewel. And it's not just Jewel that's sufferring. Alanis Morissette has had the same problem. She had a decent sized hit with Hands Clean, the album launched well... but she's had very limited success launching the second single Precious Illusions. I bet something similar will happen with Sheryl Crow. And that's not to mention Natalie Imbruglia, Lisa Loeb, Natalie Merchant... all singer-songwriter types who have had a lot of trouble with their most recent releases. The only one that seems to be breaking the curse is Michelle Branch, but I think that's becuase she's new, so she's working on a whole different level. I think we have to give Atlantic more credit than we do.... and also hope that they pick the right song for the third single.
