I've been trying to get a trip to Boston in order for weeks but family things and job uncertainties were in the way so I was only able to nail it down today just a week and a half before I want to leave. But I got a roundtrip from SD for $239. Beautiful. =) Anyway, thanks to priceline I will be in Boston for the Jewel show! Of course there are only pretty bad seats left for that show, which I'm willing to take, but I thought I'd check with all of you first. I'd really like two tickets so I can take my best friend in Boston who has never ever been to a concert. But I'd consider one..., he doesn't love Jewel as much as me... Anyone have a ticket or two to sell? Amy Neufeld and I have been working the past couple of weeks to get a book together that will contain your actual, hand-written thoughts for Jewel. The book is now in my possession, and all we need are more names! Here's an outline of how it will run: You will receive the book, E-mail me to confirm receipt and obtain next person's address (to protect privacy as much as possible), Write whatever you like to Jewel (there will be a rule sheet with the book saying what NOT to include), Send the book on to whoever's next. Note that we are doing this via the US Postal Service, so you will have to pay whatever shipping is involved to get the book to the next person. Amy sent the book to me for $5.20, so for domestic shipping it is not outrageous. International EDA's are more than welcome to join. If anyone is unable to pay the added cost for an international shipment, please let me know and I will figure something out with that when it comes up. For the size and weight of the book, I can't imagine shipping to other countries would be more than $10. Just remember, Amy and I are not paying for the shipping involved with this. You must be able to pay the fees involved if you want to participate. As I stated, there will be a more complete rule sheet included with the book, but this is a good start. I already have Melissa, Heidi, Michele, and Rob's names and addresses (I know there may be more than one EDA by this name, but hopefully you'll remember if you signed up already :D). If you haven't contacted me and are interested, I just need your name and address. You may want to put whether or not you will be able/or want to pay international rates, too. That way I can plan who to put behind you. So that she gets her props in all of this, Amy got us the book at no cost. And it is gorgeous!! So, thanks to her!! :D Well, let the names start flowing!! Just to give you my goal, I would like to get 20 names. We've already got 6, counting Amy and myself so we're on our way. And her first single Complicated is IMO the worst song on her album Let Go... and it's not a bad song either... it's just that it can't seem to decide weather it's R&B or pop/rock or maybe it's just that it's not going anywhere (Losing Grip starts similarly, but that's where the similarity ends, she really puts emotions in it later). And based solely on that song one gets a completely wrong picture about her music. The same if you'd hear only her song Sk8er Boi. It's totally other way round sounding - very fast paced punkish song. She's definitely more powerful than Michelle Branch (i'm not that impressed by her music as it is), but she's still a pop pussy compared to Lennon. Now if you want to hear something powerful: check her out. 10 secons into the first song (Property Of Goatfucker) you'll hear what I'm talking about. :) But that is the extreme, the rest is in much "better taste" or rather "tamer". *lol* But it definitely leaves an impression. :) Music varies from heavy (distorted metal kind) guitar riffs to lovely piano melodies. Or intertwined (which ultimately are the best songs) - like in Couldn't Breathe or perhaps My Beautiful, which is my fave song and you must check it out. I swear this music is like a great modern hard rock band with a female lead singer/songwriter... which are seriuosly lacking in the music world. So Lennon (Murphy) is definitely a name to look out for cause her debut 5:30 Saturday Morning is an ass kicker! Parental Advisory - Explicit Lyrics! :) Just a word or two more about Avril. What raises her music above the everyday average is that even on the popish songs she has something to say on various subjects (in all fairness, compare the lyrics for this album and Michelle's The Spirit Room)... as opposed to your oridnary I-love-you-I-need-you-hug-me-kiss-me-don't-break-my-heart lyrics. (I didn't mention it, but the same goes for Lennon of course... I mean her first line on the album is: "Mommy's in the closet finding God", which says it all I think) Avril's lyrics are mostly clever and her voice can handle a challenge and also there is solid production and a good diversity throughout the album. Mind you this is not some masterpiece of the Paula Cole's This Fire format... but she is still very young and it's a great start. My favorites at the moment would be Sk8er Boi, Unwanted (there should be more songs like this one), I'm With You, Everything But Ordinary and My World. - -- Have fun and stay beautiful Dr. RomeAntic, an angel with the worst stroke of luck and a flash of revelation "I didn't settle, I just got lazy But I could see where you'd make the mistake" ~ Lennon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Jun 2002 18:26:52 +0000 From: jlfowler78@attbi.com Subject: [EDA] More Solo Concert Dates?? I live in Warwick, RI. I have a car. I'm going to the June 23 concert at the FleetBoston Pavilion. I'd like to either offer a ride to someone nearby or possibly get a ride from someone nearby. At the current moment, it's just me going... by myself... *sniff* :P I've never driven to Boston before, hence my desire for either a passenger or a different driver :P If either thing fits your situation, let me know and we can try to work something out. ===== * http://www.geocities.com/quattj/ http://www.?p3.com/TheMasterCow * ]:o_ Jason Quattrini The Master Cow _o:[ |O = "I am a WERECOW!
