I wouldn't compare neither Michelle or Avril to her really. Michelle is more rock-oriented, and Avril is more into the punk/skater scene. Michelle and Avril are somewhat similar, but Avril isn't quite as polished as Michelle is. She does have some good songs on her CD though. The very beginning of the show talks about the test pilot they did. That was a show that they never aired.. but it was just a practice run.. and Jewel was the musical guest for that show. They show a few clips from it today. If you get a chance to see it, it's kinda neat. I wanted to make sure of course that i was one of the first people at the gates of the big holland festival! I arrived at 8 o4clock parked my car and went to see where i had to wait in the que. I got through the security and it went all rather smoothly. I went to the southern stage and i was one the first people waiting there. I managed to get a front row seat at the dutch festival pinkpop , just like 1999. We all were waiting for jewel to arrive on stage. But first a belgium act played in concert. I really enjoyed it and i was thinking Jewel was looking beautiful as ever. Wearing a jeans tshirt and white blouse which was revealing made her really once again an angel on stage. As soon as the first melody and notes of i won4t walk away started the crowd went really happy!! I went to sing along, and i had a fan begging and begging to have to sit before me, i told her sorry i am a big fan of jewel as well, and i drove all the way... I am human, but also i have a passion for jewel. The sound engineers gave me jewel pick once again, when he spotted me in the crowd. Of course me being loyal and he is aware of that, it is the soundengineer of canada. i forgot his name. Mark oakley really also saw me, and waved. It was cool to see jewel, she gave it all. She yodeled at some point, after the first 4 songs. And the crowd really loved that! I was listening to the following jewelsongs on pinkpop, 20th of may... i won4t walk away Standing still Do you want to play Hands Till we run out of road Interlude Yodel: chimebells with band jewel continued to rock You were meant for me A life uncommon Serve the Ego Love me just leave me alone Everybody needs someone sometime Who will save your soul New wild west It was a beautiful day with a beuatiful jewel, it really made my day. you can watch soon on my site photos of the concert today...i took some decent ones, although at some point also i did something with the camera which spoiled the photos, dunno why... sometimes it be that way, but jewel rocked the planet and the festival! greetings, Michiel http://www.jewelkilcher.myweb.nl jewel impala a dutch tribute site for jewel greetings, Michiel _________________________________________________________________ Meld je aan bij de grootste e-mailservice wereldwijd met MSN Hotmail: http://www.hotmail.com/nl ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 May 2002 16:40:58 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: [EDA] FWD: JeweLink: May 20, 2002 Here is the latest issue of JeweLink, directly from Jewel's "people", if you want to get a copy of this directly as each issue comes out, you can sub- scribe to it by sending a blank email to join-jewelink@list.jeweljk.com ******************************************** JeweLink - The Official Jewel Communications List ******************************************** JeweLink: May 20, 2002 In this edition of JeweLink: ***EUROPEAN UPDATES AND CLARIFICATIONS: Festival Date Announced! We are receiving various inquiries regarding sending birthday gifts to Jewel. As many of you know, her favorite gift to receive is a donation to Higher Ground for Humanity's (HGH) ClearWater Project. Before JeweLink existed, many online fans annually contributed to the ClearWater Project and/or volunteered for local community service hours as gifts to Jewel. This yearly demonstration that Jewel's humanitarian messages are understood, means an awful lot to her and all of us! If you would like to participate this year and have a ClearWater donation earmarked as a gift to her, here's how it works. Please indicate "JK" in the memo line of your check, or if you donate online, list the initials "JK" after your name (we have verified that this will not interfere with the credit card verification procedures). To donate online, please go to: http://www.clearwaterproject.org/donations.html If you want to send a check or money order, please make it payable to HGH/Clearwater and mail to: PO Box 9002, Carlsbad, CA 92018 The minimum amount you can donate online is $10, so if you prefer to send in less, please use the mail-in instructions. So far the Clearwater Project has brought clean water to over 12,000 people in places as diverse as Tanzania, Africa, India, Honduras, Tibet and Mexico. To visit our web site, please go to http://www.clearwaterproject.org. And thanks to all of you who have donated in the past and made our work possible! ******************************************** ***NEW BITES & BAUBLES GAME ONLINE NOW The next phase of our interactive "Bites & Baubles" game, is now live and online. Similar to "Name That Tune," this game challenges you to name Jewel songs using soundbites and hints. See how well you know Jewel's music, including bites from This Way. Your high score will be rewarded with access to a never-before-seen video clip of a recent Jewel performance. This week's video prize includes another new performance from a private concert in Nashville last year before an audience of online fans. To enjoy "Bites & Baubles," visit our "activities" page and then click "games." ******************************************** ***BREAK ME VIDEO & THE MAKING OF BREAK ME ONLINE In Jewel's new video for "Break Me," she takes the single's intimate message of vulnerability and heartbreak to global proportions. Morphing through a cast of divergent characters, Jewel sings the song's sublime melody from the vantage points of both the powerful and powerless. If you haven't had a chance to see the new video, we have it for you at our "This Way" page. Click the "This Way" banner on the www.jeweljk.com home page for links to streaming video. You may be wondering how does a complicated video like "Break Me" get made? We have some answers for you! Hear from Jewel herself and the video's director how the concept came together. We have an exclusive mini-documentary video all about the making of Jewel's "Break Me" video online now. This is also available for your enjoyment at our "This Way" page. ******************************************** NOTES FROM MrBB Hi All, We plan on adding a simple new feature to the end of almost every JeweLink. It'll be a brief addendum called "Now Playing," which will simply tell you what music is playing here currently. Although many of you will already be familiar with albums mentioned, I'm hoping it might inspire some of you to check out recordings you may not have heard. We listen to a lot of great music around here and I thought it would be fun to mention some of it. Talk to you soon, MrBB Now Playing: "No More Sad Refrains"-Sandy Denny (An anthology and a good place to start on Sandy Denny recordings, of which there are many. She died in 1977, but in the decade prior, released albums both solo and as the lead singer of several bands in England, most notably Fairport Convention, during the late 1960's. I highly recommend her to anyone who loves magnificent female vocals. She was the most astounding singer I've ever heard and her music resonates just as clearly today as it ever did.) ******************************************** Jewel concert information, radio and TV scheduling updates available 24 hours a day at: http://jeweljk.com/low/calendar.html ******************************************** - --- You can help a friend subscribe by having them send a blank email to join-jewelink@list.jeweljk.com To view selected back issues of JeweLink, please visit the JeweLink Archive at the www.jeweljk.com calendar page. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 May 2002 15:47:47 -0700 From: "heartbroken 4LiFe" Subject: [EDA] bites and baubles game Hey.. has anyone tried playing that game yet? I thought it was wayyyyyy too easy. Anyway... I played it once, then when i was about to view the prize video... My comp. crashed, lol.. so i had to restart and play all over again. I don't mind only, it takes so long for the songs to load. I got 2,500 pts! woohoo! ;) I actually knew the songs just by reading the quote and wanted to just answer them, but you're forced to play the clip. Oh well.
