NO MERCHANDISE! The concert organiser was there when my friend and 2 other EDAs went to ask her where the merchandise were, she went, "Merchandise? What merchandise?" And this was the same woman, when asked a few days earlier, told us to bring plenty of money because there was going to be merchandise! We were like, "what the hell?" Does anyone know if there are any "This Way" tour books or tour T-shirts being sold at other gigs? Anyway, the overall performance was amazing. I had really terrible seats, but the sound was just perfect. Jewel sounded really great. My friend, a non-Jewel fan commented about how good the performance was. The last time Jewel performed here in 1999, during the Spirit tour, there was this overall melancholy in her performance. Then, it was just really intense, and almost depressing and at times angry. I remember Jewel had seemed like on the verge of tears on several songs, like "Foolish Games" and "You Were Meant For Me", and she even brought me to tears with "Foolish Games". But during the concert last night, there was a stark difference. Jewel seemed to be much happier and having far more fun :) She was teasing the crowd, commenting on her dressing, just having fun in general. Overall, Jewel just seemed so much more content and could I say, at peace? And that really affected the crowd as well. Oh, before I forget, Jewel mentioned that the performance was being filmed by MTV Asia, and told us to say hi to them :) So I reckon it could be broadcasted soon. Hopefully, I'll be taping it :) Jewel performed "The Other Woman", which I take as a new song, and it was gorgeous. Very jazzy, very sad, very beautiful. The also performed the 10 minute long "Who Will Save Your Soul" wowing the crowd. There was this whole bunch of guys behind me who were boggled by Jewel's voice. Oh, and Jewel does a very good shimmy of sorts to that song, drawing catcalls and cheers from the crowd. She teased the crowd about "The Cold Song", that because she was a poet, the song was going to astound us with its poetic meaning ;) *lol* "This Way" was really lovely live, my friend fell in love with the song, as with "Break Me". Jewel mentioned that as her new single, and that we will be seeing the video really soon. Basically, the concert got really moving by the second set (see set list provided below), when Jewel told the audience to move down to the floor. Everybody was dancing and cheering, and because my friend and I had snuck a look at the set list earlier, we saw that the encore was supposed to be 'Foolish Games', so we were really surprised when Jewel came back for 2 encores. Harin and Emily, the other two EDAs, were sitting right in front, and I reckon Harin was mighty pleased when Jewel performed "Angel Standing By". Jewel then mentioned she was going to perform one last song because she had so much fun :) And she performed "Chime Bells" which drove the audience nuts, hehe :) Ahh, the gig was just GREAT! For those who will be catching Jewel soon, I hope you'll have as much fun as we did last night :) The set list as provided by the official Jewel site went as: Band Set 1: I Won't Walk Away, Standing Still, Do You Want To Play, Jesus Loves You, Hands, Till We Run Out Of Road, This Way, Break Me Solo: You Were Meant For Me, Little Sister, Cold Song Band Set 2: Life Uncommon, Serve The Ego, Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, Everybody Needs Someone Sometime, New Wild West, Who Will Save Your Soul Encore 1: Foolish Games, The Other Woman Encore 2 : Angel Standing By, Chime Bells Sorry for the length!
