This is a weird song, it deserved an edgier sound, like Serve The Ego. It's a miss.) ; *Til We Run Out Of Road* (the song is good but I really don't get "that feeling", hehe) B *Standing Still* (I like its production a lot, it's a hit, but the lyrics are kinda boring and silly.) ; *Break Me* (Never was a big fan of it, never will, but the remix sounds good. I like the album production too, but it makes me sleep) C *Cleveland*; *I Won't Walk Away* (I HATE the production in these songs. I think they did an awful job with them, unfortunately. I have the version of IWWA that Jewel sang at Humphrey's by the bay and it's SO PERFECT(A+)!!, when I heard the album version I almost cried because they ruined it... I hate that "fingered" (I don't know how to say this in english at all, I looked for it in the dictionary but couldn't find it... It's when you play the guitar with your finger, know what I mean? Hope so!) so, I hate the "fingered" in both songs. And I hate the 2nd "walk away"...); *Sometimes It Be That Way* (this song sounds very bad on the album, it's a shame) D *This Way* (yeah, this song is pretty cheesy...) Yeah, I think the same thing about Jewel's country sounding songs. They're not country, but not rock and not pop... Also, you're absolutely right about the crap production of Life Uncommom! It sounds awful and Jewel's voice isn't at its best at all. Photos like the ones you see this week might end up in magazines, or as promo shots. But it doesn't neccessarily mean they will. Lots of rolls will be shot during a period of time, but not all the photos will be used. The photographer might take a hundred or so photos, but will narrow it down to only a small percentage that will be used. So I'm sure she has alot of studio shots... MANY of which we've never seen and we're never used, because other shots were used instead. cymbie the ex-photograher angel "Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching." - -Bono ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Apr 2002 16:58:28 EST From: Fredsteve@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Video..! M2M <> Why do you sound so angry? I suppose it's just because tones don't come out correctly over the internet. I didn't want to enter this conversation, but I just had to make a correction. How are you POSITIVE Britney didn't write any of the songs?! I KNOW for a fact she DID. I remember allt he hype there was for this album because everyone wanted to hear the songs Britney wrote on her _Britney_ album. This is from Britneyspears.com. You may think it's not reliable, but I'm just using it for a reference. - -------------------- "I wanted to make [Britney] nastier and funkier" she told MTV in October. Mission accomplished. Not only is she not afraid to curse on this album, Britney also explores new musical styles, including funk, soul, and rock. Not to mention songwriting five of the songs are co-written by Britney herself." - --------------------- Okay, in addition, she wrote one or two songs in her _Ooops ..._ album .. the ending song, I think it's called "Dear Diary" or something and something about a mirror. Did, you do any research? I'm not saying I'm a big full-blown bubblegum pop music fan, but they really get so much crap from people who just assume things. NSYNC also wrote most, I believe ALL, of their new songs on their new album. In the one before, they got to write a few. You know, it's like O-Town also. It's not the artists' choice that they don't get to write their own music. It's tough out there, it's not easy to get signed and then demand to be able to sing what you want to sing. You sing what they want you to sing, like Tom Hanks' Mr. White in _That Thing You Do_. "You sing what I tell you to sing because that is what it says in the contract you signed." Only when they get a bit of power out there can they start controlling thier stuff. Granted people like Jewel, Tori Amos, and many many other singers DO get to do thier own material, but there are also many many artists who don't. I mean, the likes of Michael Jackson and Madonna didn't start out singing their own crap. People need to give these upcoming young artists more slack. Even if you don't like their music, realize they're just doing their thing. I would LOVE to have a singing voice like any of those singers. I LOVE MUSIC, so any musical talent is great. They just want to do what they love .. give them a break. They have to go through a lot of crap and they work hard too. They exercise and practice almost everyday too. I mean, think about it .. do actors perform their own material all the time? They don't write their own stuff all the time. How come no one says anything about that? Great classical music, like opera, doesn't require one to be able to write their own operas. In fact, most opera singers perform classical operas written long long ago. sigh .. sorry, for this incredibly long spiel, but I just think people just need to lay off some artists. Even if you don't like their music, at least respect them for do their thing and making a living do what they love. I mean, you can't tell me that Britney or NSync don't love singing. They've been doing it since they were little. Why would someone sing since they were little if they didn't like it?
