Anyway, I was browsing through my school's (University of Texas at Austin) student groups website and I noticed that there were music clubs, but none for the type of music I'm interested in. I keep hearing how Austin is a music capital, but after having lived here for 3 years, I feel like I still know nothing of the scene. I wanted to start a student group perhaps that maybe searches for local "chick" rockers in the Austin area. I was also thinking that if we do something like EDAF we could get it registered with the university (and maybe do some volunteer work together). Anyway, if nothing else, let me know if there are any other Longhorn EDAs or Austin area ones that might be interested. I know there are 2. (: On a side note, I didn't get front row, but I got pretty decent seats for the Houston show. Good luck to everyone else on getting tickets. - - Wilcher ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Apr 2002 04:23:56 -0800 (PST) From: Louise Subject: [EDA] Sunglasses in the recording studio Hey angels, Okay so I'm looking at Jewel's website pictures and she's recording in sunglasses. I have noticed that many artist like to do this. Is it sunny in the booth? No...are the lights bright? Possibly...so I can't think of any reasons why they would wear them. Too cool to make eye contact with anyone?? Anyone have any thoughts? Louise Yahoo! I don't know if any of you have been on the list long enough to remember the two shows Jewel did in Woodstock, NY back in the late 90s. The event was called Jewelstock. Anyway, there was a set of cassettes made of the shows. I had them, but they were stolen. I was wondering if any of you had copies and how I might be able to get a set. I really look forward to this, and i am certain that this will give a happy feeling. To see her in lovely nice venues intimate and not too crowded is really phenonemal. To see 11 jewelshows in may and to see 8 jewelshows in september with the four shows i have seen in february makes it really a nice jewelyear. I might wanted to go to barcelona and italy as well in may, but you can4t have all like $$$$ and you have lack of holidays from your work as well! so let4s wait and see what happens, but any ideas are cool. i am going to the concerts with a longtime fan from norway, so at least i have know already somebody friendly to gypsy the Californian sun in september. The only way to know how many times to strum it, how fast, the strumming pattern, and when to change chords is by ear. You have to listen to the song carefully to figure it out. For the most part, when someone 'tabs' out the chords, they try to keep the chord change as close above the corresponding lyric as possible.... ~ Sandy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V7 #132 ***************************
