Stay the HELL away from Johannesburg 2.) Drive a CRAPPY car. 3.) Do not wear a cellphone in public. 4.) After 10pm, do not stop at traffic lights. 5.) When you're robbed, offer them DOLLARS, not RANDS. The robbers will be so offended at being offered rands, they might shoot you. I mean, who wants rands anyway? 6.) When you hear gunshots, don't go investigate. 7.) Don't offend the locals. 8.) Give sufficient tips to waiters/waitresses (esp. waitresses. They can be dangerous when undertipped) 9.) PAY your lodging bills 10.) Don't flash your lights or show "signs" at drivers of the following vehicles: Mercedes Benzes, BMWs, Taxis, cars crappier than yours (see point 2). 11.) Give them more credit for their decision than simply "laziness". I'm sure there are a lot of good reasons why the J-Team has decided to run the preferred seating system the way they have. It's a bit presumptuous just to ASSUME that they didnt do their research and that they're lazy. The J-Team have every right to completely IGNORE how "other artists" run their system and run it a way that suits them. There are a million and one factors that go into these types of things. It's quite possible that other artists use different promoters and therefore a different system is more suited to them. You have absolutely no idea what restrictions are on the J-Team and frankly, how they choose to run the program is completely their perogative. We should be thankful that they're running it at all. It's not like it's our RIGHT. We don't pay for fanclub membership like many other artists fanclubs do. And frankly, I dont' see what's WRONG with the system. As we've established, the preferred seats will be available exclusively to Streetteam and JeweLink members. Whoever thinks there's just going to be some random link from the front of Jewel's website is MISTAKEN. The only flaw in their system that I can think of is that the tickets will go onsale at the exact same time as the regular Ticketmaster tickets. But I'm sure that the J-Team realise that having them go onsale prior would be more convinient, and I'm sure there is a very good reason as to why they can't (or won't) do that. I don't think it's rude to point out flaws in the system necessarily.... everybody has a right to their opinion. However it's extremely rude to accuse the J-Team of laziness and incompetence, when frankly we have no idea how they run any of their programs at all. We're completely unaware of the inner workings of the business... therefore there's no BASIS for accusations of incompetence. All we know is that the J-Team has been very quick to offer both us, and lately JeweLink members, really cool opportunities as fans. Things like Storytellers, Austin City Limits, Sessions, Nashville, the JewelTV thing that MTV did a while back... and even going back to JewelStock. I personally think we should be glad they acknowledge us at all. Steve > There's simply no excuse for the J-Team's laziness. Hey Guys Well.... bad news. Although all signs seemed to be pointing to a success for Break Me... she did not get many adds this week. She only got 20 adds at Mainstream, and 8 at Adult. It's weird that she got so many last week ... because that usually indicates programmers wanting to jump all over the song, meaning the impact week adds will be strong. But in this case it didn't. I'm still optimistic though. The song is very subdued and as the Billboard review said, it may take a while for programmers to get on it. However if we request a lot then they might be more encouraged. So everybody just call up your local radio station (be it Pop or Hot AC) and request Break Me... and see what they say! I'll give you an update in about a week to let you know how many adds she gets next week, and how the spins are going. GO REQUEST!! I agree with almost all of the points you said in your post. The only thing that I'm not sure about is her reference to the past. You said that it seems that she's heedless of the past, but her references to disco and Randy Newman pictures scattered across the floor seem to say that she's almost stuck in the past. Maybe the reason the girl in the song seems to play relationships like a game is because she's been hurt in the past, and she can't forget that. Of course, this is just speculation. ~ Fairy Angel ~ On Tue, 19 Mar 2002 23:04:27 +0800 Barry Howarth writes: > > Hi Angels, > > > I wrote recently that I could not find any real point to "Do You > Want > To Play" and that for Jewel to write a seemingly pointless song was > a > disappointment.
