It was a great little venue. It was called Carol Morrisini Hall. Im worried about the show @ Hardrock live. Me and my girlfriend want to go, but we both have mild Cerebral palsy and standing for 3 hours is not an option. Is there anywhere I can find out about accessiblity etc? The only phone numbers I can find are for ticket offices. Tampa is harder to get too- but they actually have chairs to sit right near the stage- I dont think Hardrock does. Can anyone help me? So it would be best to check with each venue to be sure they're even using ticketmaster. I think most of the tickets will be on sale by mid April based on what we've seen so far with ticketmaster's dates. This also corresponds with what the jewelink said...sometime "next month". ~Stacey~ - ---------- >Hey Guys > >There's more onsale info at ticketmaster.com. There's simply no excuse for the J-Team's laziness. If they were completely unfamiliar with how other artists run fan ticket programs -- which I doubt -- they could have done some research. If they were too busy to do that, they could have posted to the list, like Mike Connell did -- and received half a dozen well-written replies. Hi Angels, I wrote recently that I could not find any real point to "Do You Want To Play" and that for Jewel to write a seemingly pointless song was a disappointment. Well, further reflection on that song has proved me wrong and proved Jewel not to be a disappointment. While it is still a puzzling song in many respects, this is what I think it is, or might be, about. The key is the Anais Nin quote, so it was not just a throw-away line as I first thought. The song is about a woman like Anais Nin, who pushes the boundaries and always forges ahead heedless of the past, or others. Jewel has said she admires Nin for pushing the boundaries. While I don't really know much about Randy Newman, what little I do suggests he pushes boundaries too, which fits. But Jewel is, I think, also critical of the woman in the song (as, I think, she is critical of Nin too, given the way Jewel twisted the quote in "His Pleasure Is My Pain" - here it is back the way Nin used it originally. The "I" of the song could be a man or a woman. He or she, meets this woman - "Met her on a Friday afternoon / In a neon dayglo pink chiffon satin room". She is a woman who "never looks back" - no regrets, the past is unimportant, the effects of her actions are unimportant too. There is a relationship over some time, "always" implies that - "She always looked good dressed in black". There is a change of tense here, from "looks back" - she is still like that - to "looked good", implying she doesn't any more or at least the "I" doesn't think she does any more. Perhaps there is a contrast between "her" who doesn't think about the past and the "I" who is thinking how she looked in the past, when things were good between them, perhaps. "Do you want to play?" Maybe the relationship is just a game. But who is asking the question? Maybe the "I" says to her "You're so special" and she replies "Who gives a ..." She doesn't care what the "I" thinks of her or for the feelings of the "I" towards her. She just wants to play , nothing serious. There is a sort of break-up in her place - the Anais Nin quote refers to Nin's attitude to her husband Hugo Guiler; she's having an affair with another man - Henry Miller (and Miller's wife June, too, sort of) - but doesn't leave Hugo. "Love" to Nin was something of a game. I think she treated people as playthings, without any real feeling for anyone but herself. The woman in this song is very like Nin. Then there is a series of apparent paradoxes: "Don't think too hard / Don't think too fast." Don't think (just act) but think slowly. Maybe just don't think? "Don't ever give away what you can't take back." What's given away can't be taken back if it is a true gift, so don't give anything away. "Don't try and understand what you can't comprehend." Don't try to understand what you can't understand. You don't know if you can't understand until you have tried. So don't try. So, act without thinking (on impulse), don't give anything (oneself) away, and don't try to understand. This would fit Nin, as would "She never looks back". What the "Underneath the disco neon daylight chandelier disco deity of the chivalry" line means I have no idea, except that Nin's husband Hugo was a sort of chivalrous person. But the rest of it ...? "Take it back" may refer to "Don't ever give away what you can't take back". The "I" tells the woman to "take it back", the "it" being something (love?) the woman has given. But I would have expected the reverse, with the woman saying to the "I" to take back what the "I" has given her (again, love?). Maybe the "I" means take back/take away the love (?) the "I" feels for her. The "I" doesn't want to feel it any more. But the reverse would make better psychological sense to me - - it gets close to "love me, just leave me alone" except that here I would expect the woman to say simply "don't love me" or "I don't care whether you love me or not". But Jewel has "I said, take it back". The "I" says it. So the song does seem to have a point, which, as I said at the beginning, is summed up in the chorus: "I" say: You're so special. "She" says: Who gives a ... "She", it has to be "she", says: Do you want to play? Or, I just want to play games with you ("foolish games"?). And, in the back of Jewel's mind is the relationship between Anais Nin and her long-suffering, ever-loving and ever-supportive husband Hugo Guiler - from "His Pleasure Is My Pain" I get the feeling Jewel admires Nin but really sympathises strongly with Hugo, who is the one who cares, who gives a damn (at least, I hope she feels that way as it is how I feel).
