Because this list was the first opportunity to discuss things about Jewel, the artist on this list that we like so much. THe list which made and makes still a lot possible for fans. I have been following a dream in February 2002. To go to four concerts of Jewel in Europe for her new record This way is just something unbelievable cool. I enjoyed every moment, the first day was wednesday the 13th of february. I went to Hamburg with three other fans and we all have been experiencing our Jewel sabattical year due to the fact that Jewel was not very much in spotlights in the USA and Europe. Luckily her new record started to change this facts, suddenly dates became known and we fans could look forward in Europe to gigs in Hamburg, Berlin, London and Amsterdam, all full concerts! So me a long time european Jewelfan was really thinking how to organise and coordinate all those plans. To think it is easy or coming quickly in mind is an other thing. You have to phone up venues, get nice seats, make plans where to stay , how to travel etc... When we arrived in Hamburg we were four hours before the concert. We wanted to spot the stagetrucks and the little van with Jewel and her band. I guess that was the first night in the Schauspielhaus that i didn4t met Jewel before the concert. She was too quick that day to spot outside. I met some fans from Germany, had a quick drink before the concert, and the first concert got underway. I still couldn4t believe when they started to play I won4t walk away that i was so close to Jewel in concert in Europe. She was dressed beautifully (look at my site for similiar outfit in london ....that is url http://www.jewelkilcher.myweb.nl) and she rocked. She was sweet, she sang so nice. Jewel really enjoyed it , made good laughing jokes and was charming! When i heard the first notes of Standing still, i really got very very enthusiastic. Need the dark in the skies, or am i standing still......there is a burning bush on my right....or am i standing still.. That was so phenomenal, and than the song Break me where Jewel sings with her band making the sound really amazed me. Of course i think one of her best records of This way is Till we run out of road written with her cowboy hero Ty Murray.... Once Jewel started to play accoustic songs we all started to listen to her voice and lyrics. And after 2 songs i went up to stage, and i handed to Jewel my own personal written valentines card (it was one day before valentines day) and i gave her a teddybear (still wonders if Jewel has this in her possesion) and i walked back. The guards want to jump on me, but Jewel said he is okay i (don4t) know him :) So i felt very very happy, The concert continued and Jewel impressed me with her fine guitarplay , her beautiful vocals and it was a nice to remember. To hear her sing Foolish games and You are in cleveland again is just phenomenal.. After the concert Jewel had a big party with Atlantic records Germany, and after 70 minutes the alaskan singer came out and started to enjoy meeting fans. i was very excited and asked for the first time in my life Jewel do you want to let me get a picture of you and me. She started to say okay, and smiled very sweetly ! i had my book chasing down the dawn with me, and jewel signed it! my night was so awesome, finally a got a memory forever to stand next to the beautiful inspiring singer Jewel from Alaska... Because i want to write more about my adventures with Jewel from February i will send each day an email, so my phenomenal Jewel story will continue tomorrow... Stay tuned, there is more to come and to unveil :) Bye Eda4s, you rock!! and we all rock, because we support Jewel with her music and her thoughts and ideas! bye michiel the dutch Jewelfan am updating from now daily my site again http://www.jewelkilcher.myweb.nl Jewel impala a dutch tribute site for Jewel in holland Yahoo! Another person tried doing an AIM site, but they didn't put anyone's names or anything, so no one would know who they were IMing. When I offered to create a site, which would be updated regularly and easy to read, the girl who created the AIM site got upset and told me "Not to bother, because no one will even look at your site." So. :) The only other site I know of, which hasn't been edited lately (I don't think...) is Gerrit's Yearbook Site http://www.endor.org/jewel/, which has pictures, email and website.:) - -Melissa ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Mar 2002 19:57:06 -0500 From: shawneyeda@juno.com Subject: [EDA] love songs/david gray what are some of everyone's favorite love songs? also, does david gray have any good love songs? love ya, shawney the hippie angel "Do you need me, like I need you?"-Jewel "Who wants to be ordinary In a crazy, mixed-up world?"-Michelle Branch "I just wanna be whats best for me."-Nelly Furtado "Razors pain you, rivers are dammed, acid stains you, drugs cause cramps, guns aren't lawful, nooses give, gas smells awful, you might as well live"-Angelina Jolie(Lisa) ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Anyone who is considering attending, PLEASE let me know ASAP! I may be able to arrange carpools as well, so let me know if you're interested but are not sure how you'll get there. It's easily accessible by bus as well. ******** All list members and their friends are invited to attend a Living Room Concert on Saturday, March 23rd, featuring the lovely Randi Driscoll and the equally lovely EDA Amy Emerman in Cliffside Park, NJ. For those of you who have only heard about the magic of a Living Room show, this is your chance to see what the excitement is all about! Los Angeles resident Randi Driscoll, who entertained EDAF beach cleanup participants a few seasons ago at the Campbell's, is going to be back in town to promote her new album The Play. She's gained national recognition for her song "What Matters" from which she gives all proceeds to the Matthew Shepard Foundation and other anti-hate charities. The song was also featured in an NBC movie a few days ago about Matthew Shepard's life. (For more info & downloads, visit www.randidriscoll.com) Amy Emerman is a New York City based singer/songwriter who has just begun to take her love of singing and playing to a wider audience. Amy, who's musical influences include Jewel, Patty Griffin, and Natalie Merchant, has just cut her work schedule to part time to make room for music, singing and songwriting to play a larger part in her life. Please come out and support the rise of these talented singer songwriters! There will be some refreshments provided and you are welcome to bring additional food & beverages.
